Am I wrong for thinking most of these rules makes sense? I mean, an entertainment company promoting media products to kids and young teens should make sure people they hire to do so respect their values. Yes, sometimes Disney can go overboard such as when they wanted Raven to lighten her skin or when they pushed Shia into a singing career against his will. But the rest of the previous Disney stars are just looking for people's sympathy and this is very irritating.

OK. So the social media thing, I follow Dove because my child is obsessed with The Descendants. I like it too actually. it's cute. But she posts some non Disney friendly things. While they don't bother me at all, it's made me actually like her. But most of it is definitely not geared towards younger kids. At all. Not sure all of these are true. Love Bella Thorne so much and so glad she's away from Disney.

If there is any rule I cry at its that they have to speak like theyre characters even at public occations.
I mean: Does not everyone and theyre mothers know that actors are actors who act like a certain characters by now? That they are not expected to be like them nor is responsible for what theyre characters do on stage or on screen? I mean - Cmon folks, its not rocket science. Johan.

I was asked to audition once for Disney, thank goodness I didn't. I have a low voice and that is something I know I would have to change along with other characteristics. Not sure what the agency lady saw in me because I'm a very shy person. I know it is their job but I applaud the stars for composing themselves and following restricted rules.
reply

I assumed most of these already. A company as monolithic as Disney doesn't get that kind of all-encompassing power from nowhere. It comes from obsessive micromanagement of every conceivable detail.
Although seeing how hard Disney girls hoe out ) after leaving makes more sense now that my suspicions were validated.

Now i understand why disney xd cancelled last season of Labrats Elite Force. It's not because the low ratings thingy, it's because they can cover anymore the fact that Billy Unger already have a son from a girl that he date several years a go. So they made up the low ratings thingy to protect disney image

not to sound like a creep or pervert. i have noticed the dress code when it comes to their female actresses.
i'll watch a show with my daughter.
i'll wonder, hmm, why is she wearing a sweater when this show takes place in Los Angeles? or Okay, why does she have on 3 t-shirts and a turtle neck?

Don't care. They get paid to perform a job. If there's a contract they sign, which I assume they ALL do, and they want to get paid, it is their choice to sign or not. If they (parents) sign, then they must understand their obligations for their job. And they should be grateful for their jobs!

The Western Media attacks East Asian Entertaiment Industries that produce Kpop, Jpop and Cpop idols and actors, yet they forget that Disney sets similar rules for their idols and actors. Take away long and rigorous training hours and a strict diet, and it's pretty much the same.

Let me guess back in the day when LGBT wasnt as accepted as it is today one of the rules for LGBT people was Act straight! (I have no proof of this Im just guessing about this. I watched Disney religiously in 1980s and 1990s and there was NO representation for LGBT)

No offense, Disney, but I was highly disappointed with Descendants 2. George Clooney and Shailene Woodley were outstanding in the first one, and yet they are nowhere to be seen in 2 and 3. Highly disappointed. Almost seemed like it was a different adaptation altogether.

Actually the dating in disney didn't start being a rule until early 2007 after certain couples showed they were dating. Before that it was a considered a no no. There were stars that dated and no one found out till later after the shows/movies were over.
reply

Literally 90% of these rules are reasonable. These stars are presented as teens to an extremely large audience. While some parents may not care what the people their kids look up to wear and sing about many do. Seems like Disney is just trying to appease everyone.
reply

The smoking one and dress code are reasonable but #3 is bad. They are basically pushing their self esteem down by saying their voice is not good enough. When their acting thats kind of understanding but during an interview their is no need
reply

I think most of these rules make sense though. For the point about looking young, I believe it's because of child labor laws, since a 19 year old could legally be putting in more time and requirements than a 15 year old.
reply

Its way better than DreamWorks they do their best to give hope to younger new generations which why I will be always loyal to them till the end of my life
They made my childhood worth living to the fullest

reply

Most of these rules are expected and make sense. You cant blame these rules for all the Disney starts going off the rails at one point - Selena never did she moved away from Disney in a mature way
reply

While Im not a Bella fan thats upsetting that she had to force her voice to be so high, oddly I did notice when Shake It Up was on the air when she spoke her voice was so high it sounded fake.
reply

Considering that Disney is a family company and anyone associated shoulf stick with that formula because they're representing that, can we really blame Disney entirely for their rules at all?
reply

Teaching them how to speak, how to answer questions, how to look, restricting outside interactions, only dating those of similar status:
Its almost like Disney fancies itself a kingdom!

reply

I'm really glad i found this video for multiple reasons seriously period no questions asked at all not even one in one place on one occasion for even one split second
reply

When you apply to a job you have to follow the rules.
I see nothing wrong with Disney trying to maintain a good image
I think some stars are very ungrateful

reply

Jonas brothers didn't get their start from Disney, Disney made them popular, their one of their first videos actually has students from schools they toured to
reply

Most rules make sense, because they have to protect the children's inocence it is what makes disney, disney. But I think they took too far with Bella's voice.
reply

According to Joe Jonas,
According to Joe Jonas,
According to Joe Jonas,
how many jo bros interviews have you people watched? holy crap! but like same

reply

Ah, so much makes sense now. Like. SO much.
Though many are rolling around in huge bathtubs filled with cash, I feel the slightest bit bad for them.

reply

Jonas brothers didnt start from Disney, Disney was just the push They needed to become big. Thats very clear in their documentary chasing happiness
reply

well I fallow most these rules in my day to day life and really want to be a Disney star anyway and I'm just about Disney's most casted age group
reply

It's Ironic how Over the Years Disney Promotes Being Yourself when they make their Stars Fit into a certain Image, No wonder Most of them rebel.
reply

sad these relationships don't have the staying power. is it really? Most teen relationships don't last, and I'd be a little concerned.
