'The Crown' should reflect reality. Let the Queen & Prince Philip's lives of service remind everyone of the huge, tangible power for peace and stability the British monarchy is for everyone in Britain, the commonwealth and for the world. In the 19th & 20th centuries the U. S. A, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Greece suffered in various ways civil wars, political storms, and dictatorships. This shows what can go wrong in the absence of a head of state which is above politics, which opposes illegal dictatorship and helps keep the peace. If there are many reasons England, Wales, Scotland, Canada and Australia, have had no civil war since Culloden in 1746, having a constitutional monarchy is an important one.
Of course the Queen & Prince Philip had their failings as parents, and Prince Philip could be tactless. Whatever mistakes the royal family have made, let us be grateful for the service they give, and for the difference the monarchy makes for the better, in everybody's lives.

I was not surprised by Anthony Blunt. I read two books in the 80s called Spycatcher and one called The Fifth Man. The books made some wild estimation that there was another spy in the Cambridge Four that had not been caught yet. But they were written by former MI5 and Mi6 officers so they were taken very seriously her in the U. S. Not so much in the U. K. One was actually banned in the UK for years. What The Crown did not show is how that ring soured US to UK intelligence relations for decades. Even to this day (70 years later) the intelligence community in the US does not fully trust the Brits with certain information.

An advantage that those of us with retentive memories and who lived through those times is that we can fill in the empty spots. Charles visited the Windsors with a mission. While king, the Duke gave Wallis items of jewelry and other pricey gifts that belonged to the Crown, not the Monarch. Charlwe was tasked at making sure that those items, upon the death of the D of W and/or Wallis, were RETURNED. Much was made of the FACT that the Duchess was called Aunt Wallis by Charles. Some even hoped that thecestrangement between former King and the present Queen would be bridged. ThecWueenvMother wouldn't have that, and cAR IIV

Yes, the queen and her advisors were absolutely agenst Charles and Camilla marring. Camilla was not a virgin and did not have the right bloodlines. Diana was a virgin and more aristocratic then even the Queen. And, Anne did have a fling with Andrew Barker-Bowels. Charles was told to stop seeing Camilla and joined the Navy, while at sea she married Andrew. so sorry Ms MOJO, you got that one wrong.

The Royal Documentary appears from time to time on You Tube, favourite watch of British republicans because it shows that almost all the effort by them is about enjoying their fabulous lifestyle and the royal staff is maintaining that lifestyle for them and not really doing very much else. You can thus see why the Queen banned it from being shown ever again.

The show's silly suggestion that Margaret achieved a US loan for the UK was trivial compared to the fanciful whoppers season 4 concocted about Margaret's discovery of the truth about the institutionalized Bowes-Lyon sisters. I suppose the series was desperate to make Margaret seem less of an irredeemably shallow, self-absorbed, inebriated hedonist.

the queen would have became queen even had her uncle hadnt abdicated just would have happened later on in life. If her father still died in 1950s she would have became queen when her uncle passed away or who knows when if her father had lived. seeing that queen mary had accused edward of having caused his brothers death by abdicating

Just a small, but, I think, an important point. Aberfan is pronounced AberVan not Aber-
Fan. In Welsh, an F is pronounced as a V. FF is pronounced F. This was a huge event in Britain and it would have been nice to have had you listen to the newscasts at that time. and actually hear the name correctly pronounced. Yours in Gratitude

Elizabeth was always in the line of succession. If The Duke of Windsor had never abdicated, her father probably wouldve still passed away relatively young, from lung cancer, leaving Elizabeth as her childless uncles heir. She wouldve had more time as a wife & mother before becoming queen. But she wouldve become queen, eventually

In the U. S. I ask my mother about Princess Margaret visit when I was young and my mother didn't much care for the Princess. As a child I had similar fantasies about being a member of the royal family. Being a Royal exacts a cost your life is not completely your own.

Wrong: the relationship between the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. According to numerous accounts, the touchy-feely, lovey-dovey stuff did NOT happen. Wallis was emotionally cruel to him throughout their marriage and he died in the arms of his nurse, not Wallis.

I really did not like Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret. she is too crass, too common, too ghetto-trashy. Margaret probably acted out in an unroyal way, but her portrayal here must have been updated to shock modern audiences.

Im not trying to be a hater but I cant get past it, her makeup looks really bad, her skin looks actually green, her eyebrows look painted on, that blush looks way too overdone and is not her color and neither is the lipstick.

Tywysog Cymru does not show the attempted bombing of the celebration in Caernarfon. The narrator should have taken the five minutes to learn to pronounce Aberfan. F in Welsh is pronounced like a V. The actors have it right.

The documentary was shown on t. v. here in Canada at the time, and likely in other Commonwealth countries. Just because it was not broadcast in the U. S. doesn't mean that it didn't have a wide viewership.

One wonders with many occasions if this is near reality or not. What I am most appalled is the scene between the Duke of Edinburgh and the astronauts not having something to talk about.

I've seen that BBC documentary, I think it was paid for by the public, the taxpayer owns the copyright, the BBC and the Royal Family. That documentary should be public domain.

I know you're all wondering, and yes, I've been cast as Elphaba in the live-action Wicked! Just kidding, but we heard your comments, and hope the video is otherwise fun to watch.

You forgot to mention the incredible story of Prince Phillip's mother, that looked like a fantasy, but was mostly true, except the part where she is interviewed by The Guardian

It upsets me that they make camila the only woman Charles ever loved when he had affairs with so many other women. Most of which he asked to marry him, some were his cousins.

No one knows what goes on behind closed doors and I imagine the royals doors are always closed when family matters are to be discussed. Hollywood has to fabricate for drama

The Crown would still have eventually passed to the Queen if her uncle had been allowed to marry Wallis and still be King - Edward and Wallis had no children.

I honestly don't mind if the Moondust episode was historically inaccurate. No episodes in any series I've watched have made me relate so much. Love it endlessly!

2: 10 Princess Elizabeth was already in line for succession before abdication, as David had no heirs. She just would have ascended in the 70s instead of the 50s

I stopped watching the crown after season 2 end. I just couldnt bare to watch the new cast Claire Foy and Matt smith were way better.

Remember - her uncle abdicated the throne because the Nazis(with others) were ready to murder him. So off into oblivion he&Wallis went.

Even if Edward VIII would have remained king, Elizabeth would have still been in line since he did not have any children.
