People today need a life and definitely need to relax, the black doll that says mammie (which was black slang for mommy at the time. The crows were not parodying black entertainers, they were voiced by black entertainers with Jim being voiced by Louis Armstrong and were poking fun at the Jim Crow Laws. Song of the South was set after the end of slavery and the US Civil War though, Uncle Remus owns the land he's working, so why don't you kindly remove your head from your ass and actually watch the film, all of what I just said is referenced in the dialog including the end of the US Civil War and the 13th Amendment passing oh that's right the Cautionary tales, Briar Rabbit, Briar Fox, and Briar Bear, briars are thorny bushes that have the seed pods that look fuzzy and stick to clothes until physicly removed by the person)

The Siamese cats one: so what about it? Their representation of the cat race is absolutely on point I can definitely say that as a mother of a siamese cat. You see them as asian chinese or whatever because the race and the sounds on the song but really what that changes? Nothing. You cant really be serious they take this lovely song (that really stick to me enough to make me want a siamese cat sice I was little to more then 20 years after finally realize this wish) from the live action because people are crying over it? Well not going to watch that anymore for sure. So now we can't have villans or villainish characters asians? Villains came from all places you know, it really shouldn't matter.

My only issue, and this is not towards any of the films themselves, is that people will give you shit if you like the older movies like Dumbo or Peter Pan. It's like you are forbidden from liking them because society wants you to like the wholesome new ones.
Pinocchio, Lady and the Tramp, Peter Pan are some of my favorite Disney movies ever. I just adore the vintage look of animation from the 30's, 40's, and 50's, it looks so beautiful and extremely detailed with the light and shadow contrast. Pinocchio is probably the most detailed and I just love it so much. I refuse to be made to feel bad about liking vintage Disney.

I would MUCH RATHER see the original uncensored versions than any sanitized versions with the objectionable material cut out. If people can't consider the period in which a movie was made, that is their own problem. People who are racists are going to be racists no matter what is cut out of movies. Do we really need to have people putting everything under a microscope looking for even the most minuscule objectionable point and trying to get the movie censored? I would even like to see Disney re-release Song of the South!

I don't feel that the crows from Dumbo were that bad even if the Jim Crow thing is unfortunate in retrospect.
The two Siamese cats were at least cats and not humans, which makes it a bit better from a racial stereotype point of view.
And I feel that the Indians in Peter Pan could be just seen as figments of the imagination of three kids from Edwardian London and not as real Native Americans.
And Song of the South isn't about slavery since the story takes place after the slavery was abolished.

just think in 10 years form now half of what you say will be offending people then. So lame. Besides the fact that everything disney does is market false reality to kids to live for material possessions and unrealistic dreams, i guess making some silly jokes about headlights is the problem as their 10 year old daughter slams her door screaming I hate you for not buying me my own Cinderella Castle! Also if you are ugly you are a bad guy. Only pretty people deserve good things in life.

I LOVE Song of the South! We still have the disc and I watch it all the time! I never really thought it was racist until the world made a fuss about it.
Even though slavery is racist, we cant hide the fact that it happened. Also, even if most slaves didnt enjoy their lives, there must have been at least a couple who made the best of it, just like in Song of the South.
I will always love that movie no matter what anyone says!

I think adult humor would still be included in these movies if they were produced today, if Gravity falls is any indication.
I love that show, particularly the humor in it, but it goes to show that smart creators can have a way to sneak this in. Really, the only things that wouldn't be included today are the racial themes and smoking scenes, I think

The fact that there is a movie from the late 2000s on this list is a sad commentary on the present day and what its sensitivities have meant for artistic vision, and how rapidly things can progress.
(To be clear, I'm not blaming Ms. Mojo, who is merely the messenger and is quite correct factually about the fact that none of this would fly today)

I rewatched peter pan a few months ago and noticed something kinda disturbing. They removed the word chief, which I can understand since it's considered a slur, but they kept the term princess which could also be seen as a forced label since from what I've read native american tribes dont have princesses, just tribesmen's daughters.

Cartoons have ALWAYS put adult jokes in them because they know children won't understand but adults will. Parents are the ones who take their kid to see the movie, or the one watching it with them at home. Why can't it be entertaining for everyone? I honestly feel bad for any kid who parents can't enjoy a dirty joke here or there.

Well some of these are racist but other stuff isnt that bad. i swear people ruined family movies, no humor, no sense of sarcasm. But also why cant disney acknowledge history? Maybe racism existed in the cartoon universe, and you cant ignore it. Why cant disney potray other cultures especially in different time periods?

Not a Disney movie, but the scene in that one Gargoyles episode where Foxs nude body was shown (albeit her back only, lets just say if the series had been made today they would have to show that scene offscreen to keep the series kid friendly. Same goes for Elisa accidentally getting shot by Broadway.

I'm actually shocked Cars got a G-rating. There's a lot of adult-themed jokes in the movie. I didn't even notice the convertible waitresses sign, and I didn't get the flashing headlights thing. I'm not a big Nascar fan. I was 16 when it was released in 2006, but the jokes still went over my head.

I agree that Dumbo is seen as a problematic movie for a lot of people (even though Baby Mine is my favorite Disney song, and with good reason. I know the crowsa take the most heat, but next time, actually listen to the lyrics of Song of the Roustabouts and then report back.

some of the inappropriate stuff gets past people because it goes over the kids heads (Im not saying its ok though) but all of the other racist and stereotypical stuff, I dont know how that gets past the people airing the show.
10: 53 I am particularly offended

I dont think the speed bump scene is as dirty as they make it out to seem in Hocus Pocus. They did a lot of other stuff that was a bit more devious, like how Winnie was jealous of Sarahs affair with Billy, so she poisoned him and sewed his mouth shut

the crows in DUMBO were quite positive black stereotypes compared to a lot of US cinema in the '40s (doing a necessary job, psychologically savvy, helpful, though Cliff Edwards being Jim was uncalled-for (no African-Americans who could do musical comedy)

I felt the Priest singing about lust in Hunchback of Notre Dame seemed to go too far for a kid's movie. Dumbo also had controversial scenes before the crows with Dumbo looking like he was having an acid trip.

I actually didnt watch the live-action of Lady and the tramp because the Siamese cats scene wasnt in there, it was my favorite scene when I was little. Why do people have to be so damn sensitive!

So in song of the south the actor was treated poorly and racistly by disney, however dont you make it worse by tarnishing his carreer? I mean he was one of few black actors at the time.

I don't understand why Indigenous people have to be erased from a movie. Why can't a movie create more authentic Indigenous characters and produce more representation?

Dude. It's not racist. Maybe it implies that YOU are racist. Focus on your own issues instead of ranting on Disney's business whether they have issues or not.

Siam doesn't even exist anymore, Thailand took it's place. Uncle Remus actor agreed to be in Song of the South, one could interpret that as he's okay with it

Ok, I can totally live without the old racist stereotypes in movies.
But the removal of adult jokes? Really? They're not even that extreme.
