Why didnt anyone ever tell us the terrible history of this movie until 2021? Instead they let us grow up with this movie before finally coming out and telling us that theres a horrible truth about it! You have no idea how horrible it is when we grow up loving a movie, but then after many years of loving it, we learn that were not allowed to like this movie anymore, because by loving the movie, we were approving of all of the horribly abusive acts the creators of the movie did to Judy Garland! WHY? WHY did they let us grow up with this movie and let us have great nostalgic memories of it if the movie did stuff THIS unforgivable? It just makes me so upset! This is the THIRD movie from my childhood where this happened! THREE movies that I grew up with and loved for many years, and to learn that were not allowed to like them anymore, that makes me feel like my life has no meaning anymore!

Everyone says that Judy was overworked, but that really isn't true. Most movie contract players, whether from MGM or another studio normally did four, five even six films per year, it was normal back then. Mickey Rooney was making between eight to ten films per year. Judy however averaged only two, maybe three films per year. A low number for stars at that time. Towards the end of her time at MGM she was only making one to two films per year. But even with that light workload, she was still missing time, would show up late, or leave early. In interviews, stars from that time, Ann Miller, Gloria DeHaven and Mickey Rooney all said she was an amazing talent but she drove directors and producers crazy. She would show up 3 hours late and leave 2 hours early. Judy had the talent, but she didn't have the emotional or physical stamina or wherewithal for that kind of business.

Judy Garland had a real name Francis Ethel Gumm and she was giving so many medications and pills at an early age and she
was sick when she was in her 40's and she was just so burnt out from acting and singing and dancing and she didn't want her children in show business. She died. Judy Garland spent her whole life looking for the rainbow and she never found it. She was only 16 when she was cast as Dorthy in The Wizard of Oz. Sad that her parents didn't want her and they handed her over to LB Mayor she had a tragic life but she had a beautiful singing voice. She was the bread winner for her family. She was nominated for an oscar For A Star Is Born. I loved Judy Garland and I was a huge fan of her in The Wizard Of oz.

I watched the Wizard of Oz for the first time last night and it is automatically one of my favorite movies. Mainly because I found Judy very captivating. Her look and voice are beautiful. I read about her on Wikipedia (didn't tell all of the details from what I've read in these comments, and I slowly became really sad almost to the point of crying here and there. Someone like her deserved better for sure. One takeaway I have from reading up on her is Hollywood has apparently always been full of corrupt and lustful higher-ups. Should've thought so. I just always thought people back then were more dignified and had stronger morals and values. Money and power have always been stronger I guess. Again, should've thought so.

What if Judy Garland Was Still Alive And Then She Would Been Died In June 22, 2022 Instead Of June 22, 1969 And She Would Been Married To Mickey Rooney In 1940 And Divorced In 1941 And Would Been Having 5 More Children Are Judy Garland Rose Jr, Joel Rose, Alan Rose, June Luft And Andrew Luft And She Would Been Becoming Radio Host, Television Host, Filmmaker, Philanthropist And Comedian

Judy was very very talented. MGM worked her to death that led to booze and pills. You have no life, they control it. Yes you are famous and make millions, but you pay for it too. That is what that kind of life does to you. Real shame.

Maybe it's partly the nostalgia of hearing her voice throughout my childhood but Judy just puts my heart at ease when I hear her sing. Truly an angel that endured a bleak life. RIP sweet, Judy.

Honestly death is took good for some people. I would wish that on each person that took advantage of this innocent soul. Alas, time I'm sure, has dealt with most of them by now.
So sad.

Her parents may not wanted her but its cool to see that the mom thought about the effect that the abortion would have had on her body because im pretty sure another mom wouldnt have cared

Poor Judy, she lived such a traumatic life, and it's shocking that her parents didn't want her before she was even born! I hope that she's happier somewhere over the rainbow!

In the wizard of Oz, she was forced on a diet to make her look like a 12 year old girl. This diet was made up of black coffee, cigarettes, and chicken broth

Just remember, Judy Garland was nothing more than a choice walking around during her brief time here on earth. Why should we even care what you have to say?
reply

I belive there is heaven and he. ll. So I truly mean it when I say I hope her mother is burning in he. ll right now.
RIP to this poor woman.

I think Judy Garland was the greatest star Hollywood ever produced. She jumped right off the screen and could do everything, especially sing.
reply

It's sad bc I can't say how bad I feel for her she just never had a good story and I can't stand those people who made her live this way
reply

Judy, Marilyn, Dorothy Dandridge) Josephine Baker, and many more all of these women endured soo much, such horrific times.
reply

Wow, just think if only abortion were legal during that time, we wouldn't have to deal with the unwanted Judy Garland.
reply

All they say when you become an actor or actress you sell your soul to the devil this is a perfect example!
reply

Maybe she wasn't the daughter the parents wanted but maybe those weren't the parents the daughter wanted either!
reply

If anyone has watched her documentary she never has portrayed herself as a tragic story. Quite the opposite really.
reply

Don't call judy tragic, she wasn't tragic, was her life kinda sad and traumatic yes, but she wasn't tragic
reply

Thats so sad. She only had a net worth of $40, 000. 00 when she died. I wonder why it was so low?
