I am slightly confused about what the issues are regarding Chandler's father. I was under the impression that the whole reason they wrote in the reconciliation between the two was because Courtney married David Arquette, whose trans sister, btw, is the waitress who talks to them in the club. Is it because they just referred to Charles Bing/Helena as gay throughout the show instead of transgender (a word that wasn't really part of the every day lexicon back then? Or because the show equated his dad's gay lifestyle with being a transvestite/drag queen?
I know Chandler had several sarcastic things to say about his father's lifestyle, but wasn't that because he was so embarrassed? Chandler didn't deal with the issue in a grown up way because, well, let's face it, when the show started, he wasn't grown up yet. But I honestly thought it was played so beautifully when Chandler finally got up the nerve to say to his dad that he'd love to have his dad at his wedding. I honestly that the show did a lot to help make being gay more acceptable. Who didn't choke up at Carol and Susan's wedding?
Honestly, I thought Ross and Joey's freakout reaction after they discovered they had cuddled together during their nap is a gag that has not aged well, moreso than then Charles Bing/Helena Handbasket. But I'm open to having it explained to me.

Friends is my comfort show. Whenever I'm traveling, had a crap day or away from home, even in a foreign country Friends can always be put on. It never fails to make me laugh. I love that I know all the twists and storylines inside out, so I can just jump into any season when I need a pick me up. Loved the reunion special especially the reinactment of the gameshow (The One With The Embryos, which is my favourite episode. Could've done without James Corden as the moderator, but I did love how they showed ''regular'' fans and famous fans, showing that Friends touched all of us.

Honestly. everything needs to not be so centered on what isn't acceptable these days; if we took a retrospective look back at every single sitcom. NOTHING would fly today. I really think Chandler's dad situation wasn't so horrible, they didn't really put it down so to say in any way, but yeah it was a bit of a stretch at the time, you can't fault the past when it was only what was known, so don't give it slack for something that was just a given at the time, things are different now yeah, so don't hold it to standards of today when it WASN'T TODAY!

First, sorry for my bad english. Because: 1) Great writing. 2) Coherence (they don't change it) and quality (always the same top level. 3) No shipping wars and betrayal for the fans (they start with Ross & Reachel and end with them, not like, for example, Dawson's Creek or House MD when they destroyed the first and the main couple: Dawson & Joey, House & Cameron so detroyed the show too. 4) The right cast. 5) Very well thinking from the start (six friends all equal important etc) and they don't change the formula.

I just got done re watching all 10 seasons and laughed my ass off. I was 8 when the show premiered and remember watching it but never really getting the jokes. As I got older and kept watching the re runs I found it hilarious because I finally understood the jokes. Its my favorite of all time. However one thing is for sure. Friends is one of those shows where you absolutely love it or absolutely cant stand it.

Don't know how many times I've watched it; I know I have all the seasons[majority of the 25th anniversary ones: -(; I think I started watching around 2016 IIRC. I recall the 1st time I watched it. It was on Nick Nite. I believe I was scrolling through the Comcast TV guide and I saw the show. I flipped to it cause it looked like a great/interesting show. I was hooked since then.

love obsessed every inch or angle of this entire series combined grew up with this and definitely loved every minute momentum of all of it totally beloved way better than any other show yes heartwarming funny and wholesome for sure def on netflix when it was on but with it off huge downfall ever heard of classics going back on

Lady Gaga was right when she said that [not the actual quote but you get what I mean] Phoebe represented the one who is different and F. R. I. E. N. D. S made me feel like I was also experiencing what they're feeling. The actors were genuine and they really liked their co-actors and each formed a bond with all of them

I think the show worked so well not only because of the writing but because the actors were not so well known at the time. The cast were able to make their own chemistry and take on the characters. If they had cast well known actors, their previous roles may have tainted the chemistry.

I have to say my favourite scene is Rachel and Chandler eating cheesecake off of the floor and Joey turning up, taking a fork out of his pocket and saying alright, what are we having. So classic I nearly wet my pants every time I watch it (I'm not admitting how many times I have)

I think the way the show dealt with the character of Charles Bing (a. k. a. Helena Handbasket) was ahead of its time, and I think most people would not find it objectionable at all, even nowadays. And Kathleen Turner was hilarious and stole the show with her every appearance.
