The last movie I saw in a theater was Chicago. It will probably be the last movie I ever see in a theater. Movies are crap today.
Any real world event that happened in the past cannot be made into a movie today because it is insensitive to the audience of today - that is why everything is a remake today.
That and the fact that 70, 000, 000 voices who could have made a difference in the World today have been silenced over the last 50 years by abortions - just in the USA.
The destruction of the Human Race was CREATED by the Human Race by murdering the next generation, not by climate change.

So chick screws around on her husband, kills her lover, has husband give everything for her defense, lawyer blames dead guy, jury is swayed by pretty girl and is set free only to dump husband. So. basically the same that happens today, a century later. Lol, and women still claim to be oppressed.

I like how Watkins was able to turn this murder trails into art. It also shows a lot about societys obsession with womens beauty and drama. As a Chicagoan, I never seen Chicago and after seeing this video, makes me what to watch it now.

Nice research, but it goes to show you that you can make a musical out of anything. About 5 or 6 years ago an aquaintance told me a musical had been made out of Silence of the Lambs. He then sang me a sample. I was gobsmacked.

Wait. Chicago was based on a true crime story, but the Broadway musical (and subsequent film) were both inspired by the 1942 film Roxie Hart starring Ginger Rogers. I don't know how this detail was overlooked.

I prefer the live musical to the movie, I saw Robin Givens as Roxie, a hilarious South African actress on loan as Velma, and the actor who play Mr. Peterman on Seinfeld was excellent as Billy Flynn.

Why? When this weekend 50 black men had killed other black people in Chicago. why celebrate murders? This is a big liberal movie celebrating murders, zeta looks like an alcoholic she needs rehab

I dont think it was till I saw an episode of Deadly Women that covered the actual case. You can call it one of those almost too crazy to be true, but thats true crime for you: )

I really really love this musical! Saw it in NYC in 2018. Ann Rienking is absolutely right! No matter what decade youre in, Chicago the musical will be relevant in some form.

What kills me is so many of these people are in so many childhood animated movies of mine. Renee Zellwegger being Vanessa from Bee Movie and also Angie from Sharktale.

I knew the original writer wanted nothing more to do with it, and wouldn't have approved of the award winning sensation it is today.
The rest, I didn't know much of.

That they executed the only innocent soul of this lot ruined the whole movie for me! Still makes me upset. I enjoy the songs but I cannot watch the whole movie.

I'm so tired of people disrespecting a creators work just for money. They waited until she died. Just like Nickelodeon did with Stephen Hillenburg. It's disgusting.
