I feel like they should've kept the Helga scenes, just because in the end when the ship goes down, Rose keeps looking at Helga before she plummets to her death, and it's odd because the audience doesn't know why exactly since we don't get any Helga scenes before it.
Rose feeling trapped is a good scene, but I feel like we still get her desperation even without her breaking down like that, so it's fine that it was removed. And I don't think the boiler room kiss should've been kept, because just a few minutes later we get the car scene where they make love, so we still get them being happy and in love before the iceberg strikes. A lot of the scenes that were cut seemed like they were cut because they were either too on the nose (like Kathy Bates asking for ice as the iceberg passes behind her) or like doesn't need to be said/shown since the audience gets it or it's too repetitive (the break down scene before her suicide attempt, or the boiler room kiss.
They should've kept the scenes with the Chinese survivor though. I feel like any scenes where we are able to see more of the actual historical figures (like the Carpathia survivors staring at Ismay, or the Straus scene on deck) should've been kept. It's real and brings more of the real tragedy of the Titanic and her actual survivors and victims.

I think that the ending James Cameron choose is much better than the alternate one. Rose came to the research ship to find closer with her past. That moment when she throws the jewel in the ocean is her way of finding closer and make peace with her past. I think that this is a moment that she should live alone with no unnecessary speech about it also. She probably felt her death was near. She gave her heart (represented by the necklace) to her love who sunk in the ocean. After all these years and a husband and kids, she was still in love with Jack because he was her soulmate and not her husband.

This could have been a good movie. They turned it in to a love story. Titanic was not a love story it was about the lives of 2228 people. You have those that were save and then some 1500 men women and children that were not saved. People who had hopes and dreams of a new life in America and all of it was cut short on that night. I did not like this movie I gave a zero. A night to remember by Walter lord was way better because he put the human factor in to his story Titanic by no means was a love story. I think they should di another movie but this time show the human factor not a love story

3: 53 When you talk about a scene, you should talk about the whole scene. Not just the first few seconds of it. The part of the scene where they talk about shooting stars definitely deserved to be mentioned. It is a beautiful romantic moment between Jack and Rose! You can see just how much they want to kiss each other but cant! Rose wishes for something she cant have (but got it anyway ) because of their social classes. And the part where Jack says that shooting stars are souls going to haven and at the end when he dies, theres a shooting star.

While it leaves a continuity error regarding how they suddenly changed clothes from the start of the flashback at Southampton, glad they cut out Brock Lovett's dilemma scene. Not just cuz Brock's being a jerk trying to get Old Rose to tell him more about the diamond before letting her go to bed, but cuz of Lewis Bodine right before that. Wait a second, I wanna get something straight, you were gonna kill yourself by jumping off the Titanic? Hahahahaha! That's great! All you had to do was wait 2 days! That made him seem like a jerk too.

Honestly any of the scenes where Jack and Rose were interacting should have been kept since they fell in love so fast. The more scenes, the more I can buy their whirlwind romance. The scene with Rose in her room having a panic attack should have stayed since it linked the scene before and the one after perfectly and showed Rose's mental state better than her actually telling us repeatedly that she felt trapped.

Jack and Rose, Jack and Rose, Jack and Rose. Oh yeah, these other people too. They're ok too, I guess. (Could have deleted a Jack and Rose scene for someone of great importance such as the elderly couple or someone that ACTUALLY existed) What were we saying? Oh, right, back to Jack and Rose, Jack and Rose, Jack and Rose, let's put more of Jack and Rose scenes. Makes a lot of sense.

When this movie came out in 1997 it was on VHS, and the movie was so long that it came on 2 of them and you had to swap them out midway through. I swear on my life the VHS I had was an extended or directors cut. Because Ive seen all of these in the movie when I was a kid. Its so weird, like that so called Mandella Effect

I swear there's a deleted scene that properly explains why Jack couldn't get on the door with Rose, but I can't seem to find it. If it exists it should've been kept in and then people wouldn't still be going on about how they both could've fitted on even though the door wouldn't have supported their weight.

SPOILER
The alternate ending is the original. The script is public on the internet and that is the original. The conculsion is clear: only life and people are precious not things - and when Lovett holds the gem and releases, he understand too, and ask Lizzy for a dance instead.

The only thing the movie did wrong was Moody and Ismay. Both were true hero but this movie destroys that. Moody had more life boats lunch that the other side. And Ismay actually help women and children get into the boat. No Smith never was going fast at all.

Does anyone remember that old phone book commercial? The one with old Rose throwing the diamond into the ocean but instead jumps back in gets it and pawns it for some cash. thats a hell of way to end and almost ruin a perfect movie, especially with humor

It would be interesting to see an extended version of Titanic, with all these scenes reinserted. I'd make 3 versions - original theatrical version, extended version, with the original ending, and extended version with the alternate ending.

Mr. Ishmay's Guilt is another good scene. It shows everyone being rescued and as they board the Carpathia they all look with anger, hurt and disgust at Mr. Ishmay. For two reasons letting the ship sink and for being a coward.

I dont think the old couple in bed was a deleted scene. I remember it very well anyway. Also im kinda glad they deleted all these other scenes because the movie was absolutely perfect the way they ended up making it.

I can't believe you didn't mention the Cora's fate scene. It's the most difficult to watch one imo. Cameron cut it because it was too dark even for this movie. Absolutely heartbreaking

I want a version with all the deleted scenes except the speech in the ending. I don't care if the movie will be longer. It's good. More scenes with Carpathia will be better.

The Straus couple made me cry. Knowing its true as well. Jack and Rose was a good made up romance but you cant beat that type of love. Wish they would have kept it in.

Wise choice on the ending.
Dropping it into the depths where Jack died says more through the visual than any clunky, cheesy, preachy dialogue ever could.

Yeah lol it's visually great but so unrealistic to have a romantic running montage through the boiler room. Lol yeah, such an obvious safety hazard for a flowy dress

I love titanic but the ending with the old lady throwing the diamond away sucks. It's more annoying then Rose not sharing the door.

The fight with Jack and Lovejoy makes sense. Jack smashing his head through a window it kinda takes away some of his charm.
