Top 10 Unexpected Musical Numbers in Non-Musical Movies Gordon Joseph Levy Great Actor love him.
And yes he is a great Actor, look at Looper, he literally played Bruce Willis, even got the squinty eyes that Bruce does. Mannerisms, everything. Levy is a GREAT actor.
I was gonna say that 10 things i hate about you better be number one, but yeah, i wont argue with the top pick.\r\n

Two interesting ones to note from hard to watch movies: from Captain Fantastic (2014) the family sings a great rendition of Sweet Child of Mine (Guns and Roses) and from the difficult movie, Deliverence, is the awesome banjo-guitar duel. For sure, that was put in to give the audience a little relief from a hard movie to watch.

Perhaps the most unexpected musical number in a non-musical movie I've ever encountered is in the old Universal monster movie FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF MAN. Right in the middle of it, a chorus of merry villagers perform an elaborate production number called Fa-do-la, Fa-do-li.

241: At least the sequel from The Nut Job isnt on here cause I think this slight fun thing has came to an conclusion
If anyone has ever seen this animated sequel. Its the part when the female squirrel character (forgot her name) starts to sing but gets interrupted twice

A few more honorable mentions.
Johnny b Goode: back to the future
I cast a spell on you: hocus pocus
Cuban Pete: the mask
Say a little prayer: best friends wedding
Just the two of us: Austin powers the spy who shagged me
Living in America: Rocky IV

240: I guess A Place Called Slaughter Race does count but if Vanellope never met the Disney Princesses, she wouldnt have her own official princess song. When I saw this in theaters, everyone laughed at first but when Vanellope hit the high note we all applauded

I know MsMojo generally never recognizes anything from before they were born but seriously no Puttin on the Ritz from Young Frankenstein, Babysitter Blues from Adventures in Babysitting or My Rifle, My Pony and Me/Get Along Home Cindy from Rio Bravo?
reply

I grew up in a small area near Dublin the song every sperm is sacred is closer 2 the truth than you could possibly imagine. Those damn Protestants always thought they were better than us Catholics
P. S I hate the soft rock/pop group Queen

OK you mentioned one Mike Myers movie, next time include the Soul Bossa Nova opening sequence from Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery because that scene really gets you in the spirit of the sixties.
reply

I would add My Best Friend's Wedding, when the Rupert Everett's character begins singing I Say A Little Prayer For You, with the family gradually joining in and eventually the entire restaurant also joining in.

Yes, Wayne and Garth sing Bohemian Rhapsody was good until I realized that they got me grounded. From inside the car it was Covina CA. They blocked my way home and it took longer to get home. Thanks Wayne and Garth.

Magic Moments unexpected fun in the middle of a movie! Any time I see Ferris is already running, I check in to see if I might get to see and hear the parade. Stay safe, everybody.
reply

Best part of the I Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You performance is how much setup Patrick put into it. Arranging the band, setting up the speakers. that boy knew what he was doing.
reply

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life -- Life of Brian.
I'm Tired -- Blazing Saddles.
Yes, you already had Monty Python and Mel Brooks on the list. Still.

Why do people in films and TV never have to wait for the lift/elevator like normal people? They only ever have to wait for comedic or dramatic purposes, never for realism.
reply

I call shade MsMojo! How can the sperm song be on this list and not the penis song from the movie Sweetest thing. Cmon guys - THE most unexpected song everrr
reply

In pulp fiction they don't win the dance competition, later in the film you here a radio report about the trophy being stolen from the restaurant
reply

Not even an honorable mention for the dance sequence from 'The Big Lebowski'!
or the funny dance sequences from 'A Night at the Roxbury'!

reply

Jai Ho won best song because Golden Globe winner Bruce Springsteen's The Wrestler (from the film of the same name) wasn't even nominated.
reply

Wait, what! Wheres I Say A Little Prayer from My Best Friends Wedding? Surely a spontaneous luncheon singalong should make the list.

Every Sperm is Sacred is good, but I think the iconic Monty Python musical number is Camelot from The Holy Grail.
reply

Say A Little Prayer For You on My Best Friend's Wedding should be on the list. I was waiting to see that one.

Anne Hathaway's Someone to Love in Ella Enchanted much better than the song they picked as Honorable Mention.
