Animation is rarely cheap, but these are the most expensive animated movies ever made. Our countdown includes WALL-E, The Lion King, Toy Story 3, and more! Which animated movie do YOU think got the most bang for its buck?

I think Wall-e, Brave, Finding Dory, Monsters University and Toy Story 3 are all worth the budget. I mean, from the amazing animations and concept of Wall-e to the wonderful and crazy-fun adventures of Brave. Finding Dory was definitely one of those good Sequels. Just look at how Monsters University played out and how it did not disappoint. Lastly, when you look at Pixar's saddest and best moments there are probably a big number of Toy Story 3 on the list! Some movies are awesome and it's quite worth the price and more, but others do suck and that's how personal opinions come into play.

The cost of research can also be very much. And that's why Tangled costed so much. From the wiki for example: One of the main goals of the animators was to create movement that mimicked the soft fluidity of the hand-drawn art found in older Disney animated films. Glen Keane credited Disney 3D animator Kyle Strawitz with helping to combine CGI with the traditional hand-drawn style. And that shows.

So Pixar holds the record of the animation studio that makes the most-expensive movies and animated feature films ever created. Also The Lion King 2019 is live-action, not animation despite being photorealistic CGI that is also not giving out the uncanny valley (This means movies like Scooby-Doo, Garfield, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Yogi Bear, The Smurfs and Woody Woodpecker.

Im not shocked that Ilumination animated movies were not mentioned. They have a low budget which is also the reason for Dreamworks who got one movie to be mentioned. Disney and Pixar really take time to make animation great. Like Raya and the last dragon for example, the water looked so real. MsMojo should make the top 10 cheapest animated movies.

Imo, all the honorable mentions, WALL-E, Finding Dory, Incredibles 2, Toy Story 3 and especially Tangled was where the money was well spent.
A Christmas Carol had absolutely no reason to be fully motion captured and would've been WAAAAY cheaper (and would've looked nicer) if it was live-action.

9: 17Sigh. The original is so more beautiful. Also, computers were used to make the original! The fact that you didn't notice it speaks volumes on how good the computers were used in the film! Disney has been using computergraphics in their animation since The Black Couldron (1985.

I found out about Tangled early when in a drawn animation style in testing. My sister who I told waited years asking when it was coming. Whilst I thought I was going crazy. A year later after she asked the first trailer dropped. I was relieved to see I wasnt mistaken.

Disney wasted so much money on motion capture, its better just to go with live action or use computer animation without any limits. At least they make a profit from their animated movies, otherwise they wouldve been bankrupt with their overrated film sequels and remakes.

Say what you will about Toy Story 4, Incredibles 2, and Finding Dory. They may not be quite as good as their predecessors, but their still darn good flicks, and its money well spent in my opinion.
Besides, I love Keanu Reeves no matter what film hes in

9: 32 just look at this ugly shot. It's so. GREY. And monocolour! Argh! I can't stand it!
Compare it to 11: 56 for example: full of colour and contrast like a Disneyfilm should be. I love it!

Aside from one honorable mention (Monsters vs. Aliens, all of these were under Disney, and it shows they have to use a lot of money to earn a lot of money. Who would have thunk?
reply

You should do top 10 cheapest animated film. Disney has A LOT of money to spare and to be honnest, they are one of the few stuydios who can afford big budget animated film.
reply

I'm surprised animated films like Big Hero 6 or Zootopia aren't in here and those made a lot of money plus like Tangled one even got a sequel series on Disney XD

I CAN'T BELIEVE that BOTH Frozen movies only cost 150 MILLION! One would think that the EPIC animation in those films would have cost more than that.
reply

Considering its innovative animation and cast I'm surprised that's Spider-Man into the spider-verse only had a budget of 90 million dollars

The experience that this brings to an entire generation is more valuable than any other asset.

Remember loneliness is designed to help you discover who you are, and to stop looking outside yourself for your worth.
reply

Tangled never got the love it truly deserved. Still one of my favorite modern animated movies. Up there with Rango. So funny.
reply

I don't know why, but I always manage to forget that Toy Story, was released in 1993. I was 13-years-old back then.
reply

At this point Disney knows that whatever they spend to make the movies will at least triple at the box office.
reply

The fact that Cars 2 is the one that brought in the most money out of the Cars franchise is just sad.
reply

I really don't c Lion King as an animation, more of a live action. So it doesn't belong on this list.
reply

Every film on this list was worth the money spent. Except #6, #4, #2. Those three films were terrible
reply

I mean Tangle is one of the iconic Disney movie after all. The songs and the voices were well picked.
