I consider the nightmare before Christmas a dual holiday movie. I consider it a Christmas movie and a Halloween movie. Since the name of the fictional town Jack skeleton lives in is literally called Halloween town in both the original nightmare before Christmas and in the kingdom of hearts franchise plus its video game sequel oggies revenge. There was also a prequel video game that i dont recall the name of it but it was an old hand held game for I think for one of the game boy system I think. It explained the whole back story about oggie boggie and why he was so afraid of Jack Skelton to the point that after he failed to kill him in the finale of the movie he flees after Jack saved sally and Santa claws. Also explains lock shock and barrell relationship with oggie boggie. Which Jack was clearly aware of and made it clear he didnt want oggie involved at all. IT was in the scene were he sends lock shock and barrel to kidnaps Santa claws I dont recall if its one the there first trip which happens off screen where there Goff and accidentally abducted the Easter bunny instead because they go through the wrong door through in the wrong tee In the woods. Our he mentions oggie the second time he sends them back out after they drop by oggies place an the sing the first I guess technical villian song of the movie kidnapping Santa claws. Which tends to get overlocked versus the oggie boggie song which gets a lot more notice and mention. Also Tim burton also got false credit for years of having directed the nightmare before Christmas when it was actually directed by Henry Selick. When in realitys button wrote the story based of a poem he had written and he produced the movie with help from Denise di Novi.

Despite being shoot using the stock motion technique our something similar use for parts of the original King Kong and all the films of talented deceased Ray harryhausen was shoot pretty cheap back in 1993 on a budget of just 24 million before adjusting for inflation and the film grossed an amazing whopping 91. 5 million dollars which wow was a lot of money for a darker kids movie especially a Disney movie technically which was produced as a touch stone movie and distributed by Buena Vista Pictures both subsidiary companies for Disney this was do to Disney one not being confident it would be profitable and two were afraid it would soil there image as a kid friendly company because of its darker tone and content. Disney has a long and cursed history of there darker toned films like princess and the frog and the little mermaid to be way less profitable compared to films like Aladdin and beauty in the beast. Our in worst case scenarios like with films like with black cauldron be finical failures which would lose what was consider absurdly large amount of money at the time especially if the films were stuck in the infamous position chronological we know as production hell.

Now I COULD understand SOME People being upset by the President Lincoln birthday celebration as it was undoubtedly racist BUT in their defense they weren't TRYING to be racist OR disrespect Blacks! Bing's character Jim was trying to disguise the woman Linda from his former partner Ted.
A Modern remake could easily do away with the Lincoln bit and simply have a masked ball for President Day which they did NOT have back in 1942! President Washington and President Lincoln's birthdays were celebrated separately back then!

Two huge problems with this particular Top 10. Have you guys lost your mojo just as the holiday season begins? (1) Jump (for My Love) is NOT a Christmas song (even if it was used in an iconic Christmas movie Love, Actually! (2) How is White Christmas not #1? The songs from It's a Wonderful Life are iconic songs worthy of inclusion on this list, but not at expense of a Bing Crosby classic.

I think the whole controversy with baby its cold outside the last few years today is dumb. People play it up make it sound way worst then it was. Yes i know it was very taboo story line in the song for the time it was written in the early 1940 yes it was considered to be indecent for a woman to stay over night in a mans house if they were already married our something like that.

No spoilers here. they got #1 right. However there is a MASSIVE overlook by Ms Mojo. The movie The Family Stone has a far better version of Have Yourself. Its Garland's unbeatable vocals. However the subject is Musical Moments in Christmas Movies. The Family Stone montage is far superior to Meet Me in St. Louis. And it comes at a critical point in the movie as well.

This was a very good countdown. Yes, I agree with this list and I love Christmas. My family and I love the 1954 movie White Christmas. That movie was great and we love the musical number in it. I have never seen the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas now I'm thinking about renting the movie this holiday season. Thanks for sharing and have a good night.

Jack isn't the mayor of halloweentown lol the mayor is the Mayor of halloweentown. The movie was originally just a Tim Burton movie, Disney bought it way down the line. The movie is good for both holidays. I love Jim Carrey's grinch. I love all those 60s holiday movies! My favorite is the year without a Santa Claus.

With Boris Karloff as the narrator and singer (most famous role was as the monster in Frankenstein (1931) and Thurl Ravenscroft who is most famous for being the original voice of Tony the Tiger! The 1966 Grinch is the classic. Always a great song even the long version. Of course White Christmas is such a lovely song. The Grinch is campy, but White Christmas captures the love of home during the holidays. My favorite is Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

My family watches White Christmas every year and for 25 years since I was 9, my mom has always wanted me and my big brother do our annual show of gender swamping the song Sisters Sisters ta Brothers Brothers. It become a holiday comedy tradition in my family.

It always bugs me every Christmas when I hear 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' and they use the rewritten lyrics instead of the movie version. No matter how hard they try to rewrite it, it just was NOT meant to be a cheery song.

I LOVE one of the opening scenes of the tv show Cheers where everyone is claiming to hate the scene where the little girl says every time a bell rings an Angel gets his wings. and then after that scene everyone in the bar is crying!

Don't forget Silver Bells, from the Lemon Drop Kid. As for Last Christmas, it's a very singable and pleasant-sounding song, but when you listen to the words, it's a really bad Christmas song.

You really should have credited Thurl Ravenscroft for the vocal of You're a Mean One Mister Grinch his voice really sells it. And, the Who's Welcome Christmas is VERY nearly as memorable.

That love actually scene with Hugh Grant was priceless. More than half of that movie was fantastic and the other part was a bit cringe. But the Prime Minister was one of my favorites.
