i'm really annoyed every time someone compares the mentalist and psych.
patrick jane pretended to be a psychic until his family got hurt and then he went to work with the police. once he started working with them, he has, not once, claimed that he is a psychic. he had, in fact, numerous times, reminded people that he IS not a psychic, and that he was faking it for tv ratings.
shawn, however, has claimed from the first day he started working with the police that he IS a psychic, because saying i have a gift for deduction that was honed to near perfection by my cop father, with whom i have a somewhat estranged relationship is too mature of a thing for him to do.
i love both shows, but they are not the same. they are actually, each other's opposites. =_=

The mentalist was not about a fake psychic solving crimes. Thats the one thing I cant stand about mojo is yall do not watch stuff yall just talk about in fact, he goes against everything about a psychic when people accuse him of being a psychic he got upset thats his whole thing is to prove that there is no such thing as psychics. He says it every episode, just watch the first season. As a matter fact, you dont even have to watch the first season just watch the first three episodes.

Is there MOJO ranking of best detectives/sleuth ever on tv? Not who is most popular but who is adept at figuring out whom did it? I know they all tend to discover who did it but who spots clues better, interrogate people better and finally who is the best at putting the clues together. Basically, who would to want to solve a murder and you need the best!

Hmm I thought the pineapples and random partner names would be higher. When neither of those were #1, I thought the top would be the whole gag of the show - Shawn being a fake psychic ( spoiler. I also thought all their movie references would have a spot on the list.

Gus is (NOT) Bud. From season 1 to the series finale with Deon Richmond (the actor who played Gus aka Kenny in The Cosby Show) as Gus' boss that was an amazing running gag. They even got Keshia (whho played Rudy)to be Gus' material wife in Polarizing Express.

The partner name Longbranch Pennywhistle is my absolute favorite. It's so obscure, yet they were among the pioneers of country rock, and both members went on to become major hitmakers. I've always wondered if that came from Steve Franks since he's a musician.

Okay, so a couple revisions. Suck it should be on the list, not an honorable mention, and should be top 2. The pineapple should probably be 1 since it is iconic for the show. So I would say top 3 should be 1 the pineapple, 2 suck it, 3 I've heard it both ways.

Honestly, this list is not long enough. There are so many other reoccurring lines and actions, like Wait for iiiiitttt, Gus being Bud from the Cosby Show, Dobson and Kilmer, Lassies I would rather, and Henry doing shitty things to Young Shawn.

My favorite Gus scream was when they discovered the body at their high school reunion. Gus started his scream and Shawn slammed his hand over his mouth. There was just something about that cutoff that had me on the floor

The little hits at The Mentalist were hilarious. It deserved slams. Rip-off of Psych. Plus, the lead actor was a bit hostile to Regis Philbin when he was interviewing him. He may as well kick a puppy.
