There is no faster way to lose all clout than to say that Beauty and the Beast (2017) was good, wanted, or that it lived up to expectations (unless you're saying the expectations were low, in which case, you're. technically correct? Doesn't sound that way though) Just like all of the live-action disney rennaisance remakes, it's a complete cash grab that plays solely on nostalgia of people who grew up in the 90s, watching the originals in their formative years and are now having kids of their own to take to the movies, removing actor agency and replacing it with sound engineers.
Some very loose definitions of musicals of the century going on here, as well. C'mon. You can do better. Things made last century aren't of [this] century.

Let's clear something up for everyone, this is not a 20th century list, it's 21st century so stop mentioning things that weren't released in this century. Second, Hamilton and Newsies do not count as they were recordings of the live stage production, they were not remade as movie musicals like West Side Story was. I see so many people getting things mixed up or just plain wrong. They made it very clear what they were ranking, if you got confused that's on you. Also Cats was terrible, and even suggesting it should be on this list is frankly nuts. If I could replace any of these on this list, take out Beauty and the Beast and put in Burlesque because THAT deserves recognition.

Disney did not succeed with Into the Woods. Their version was awful. And HSM2? Come on! The movie version of Sweeney wasn't as good as it could have been. I did not like La La Land. I watched it twice, and did not see the appeal. And really - do movies not even exist to you people outside of the U. S. or not in English? Your video title is so incredibly misleading. It should be Best Hollywood Studio Musicals of the century so far. And even that I find questionable.

mrs potts is the best disney character. up until last year i was obsessed with angela lansburys mrs potts but after listening to the soundtrack of the 2017 one i absolutely LOVE emma thompsons version. the only version i will never watch is shania twains. i love shania twain but she didnt deserve it especially when thompson couldve reprised the role. change my mind

It's really surprising that they put the film versions of Les Mis so high because it's known as one of the worst musical-to-films. Whether it is or it isn't, theatre kids really hate it. Personally, In The Heights should be higher on the list, definitely above Once and Love

I don't think I have ever disagreed with a mojo list more, The Greatest Showman near High School Musical? One is art the other is cheesy crap, Phantom of the Opera is one of the most loved musicals worldwide, Les Miserables is insanely good and where was HAMILTON?

Moulin Rouge, made me hate musicals. I have always loved the classics. My Fair Lady, West Side Story. Fiddler on the Roof, could not get enough. Disney and Baz Luhrmann have ruined what was an art form and made for neophytes and tourists.

I've never understood why people love LA LA LAND, I didn't remember any of the songs when it was over, and I didn't care for the two vapid leads. I've never had a friend or family member who felt any differently.
