I've tried to watch this show but it is so unfunny it is unreal. This show is nothing like The Office- The Office actually had well-written jokes in it. This show is much more like Parks and Rec where you had to be invested in the quirky characters and situations to enjoy the show. Parks and Rec did have some funny moments and jokes, but it was vastly inferior to the Office. Abbott Elementary seems to have no jokes at all and relies completely on quirky situations and quirky characters. If you want to pass this off as a preachy light-hearted drama, then go ahead and do that. In order for a show to be a comedy, you have to have jokes written into the script. This show is no comedy b/c no jokes = no comedy.
The target audience for this show is the Parks and Rec and Big Bang Theory crowd. I think that an elementary school could be a great place for some good comedy. Too bad the people writing this show obviously have something other than comedy in mind. I kind of think that actually might be one of the big issues here- there is an agenda other than writing a good comedy show.

Im glad to see that the show is doing well and showing African-American teachers in a good life I would know my nieces mother was a teacher for over 30 years in a school district in Mississippi! And some of the things that they attack on the show is pretty great but then you dont wanna tackle a lot of things when it comes to special teachers you know those PE teachers art teachers and music teacher cant wait to see where the show goes next

The fact this show showcases black people in a normal setting and varying personality types. Showing black people are not a monolith. I dont feel like Im watching a show that pandering to black people, but showing we just as normal as everyone else. Quinta did a beautiful job with the writing, casting and stories. This show gets a A++++

Comparing it to the office feels a little degrading in my opinion, I actually think it feels more reminiscent of the tone of Parks and Recreation. And if this show delivers quality season after quality season, it will be a modern day sitcom that matches up to the classics sitcoms that we got from NBC in the late 2000s early 2010s

The series should be a MUST WATCH for every teacher, teachers aide, principal. Not only is it a stress reliever, but it also is an unofficial manual on education that can carry through all grades in different situations and circumstances

I just started the show and had to come back to the video to say what a great recommendation! How is nobody talking about this show its awesome. Its basically the black version of the office set in a Philly school. Its great.
