Lightyear should have been inspired by old 50s pulps, like Dan Dare, Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers. Instead of that, they tried to ape Interstellar and failed miserably. The old Star Command cartoon wasn't perfect but it handled the concept WAY better than this thing. Also, SPOILER making Zurg and Buzz the same person because of time travel shenanigans is the WORST IDEA EVER. Zurg is supposed to be an alien evil emperor. In this movie he's not alien, he's not evil and he's not an emperor. He's not even a character, but an empty suit. So, in short: I'm heartbroken with how the movie turned out.

My daughter and I caught a couple that might reference the Disney movie The Black Hole. Zerg has a version of Sox who has been damaged in battle and is disfigured, though still functional. He reminded my daughter of B. O. B. from TBH, who was a scarred and battered robot who was also dented and disfigured. He also meets his end during the movie. I noticed that two large security robots come in to deal with Buzz, and both are large, menacing and painted red, much like Maximilian from TBH. Coincidence or subtle references?

Definitely didn't take kids to watch this woke shit show, Disney's getting me tired with what they want to do to our kids, they can take alll the bs they produce and shove it up their rectums cus I'm done supporting this crap, Disney's needs to leave our kids alone. PERIOD.

I personally did not like the change they made to Zerg. I super dislike the backstory of him actually being buzz from the future (which that plot itself doesnt make sense to me) I wish they kept him as an evil emperor and not try to humanize him like they did.

I think the 'Not Today Zurg' line comes from a deleted scene in toy story one where there was an opening with a trailer for buzz lightyear on a television. At the end, Buzz destroys zurgs ship and says 'Not Today Zurg', just like in the movie.

There was definitely a scene where they were flying in a ship and the target outline on the screen was the shape of the little green aliens. I cant find it anywhere but I know I saw it!

I honestly thought that 'Lightyear' was just OK. Too much adventure; action-packed; felt too much like a Marvel film than Disney/ Pixar; there was no short film proceeding this film, etc.

Look I love the movie but all the new characters introduced in it totally contradicts the original Toy Story especially since this is a movie that exists in that universe.

Lightyear was an enjoyable movie. Worth watching for its action scenes with robots etc, beautiful space scenery, and fun characters, including the robot cat sidekick.
