I had to give up being nursing assistant after being certified 12 years/ working 9 hard years because health reasons. I got discharge from the hospital back on September 6, 2020 and few later hours I right back at the same place. Because I fell face forward in room getting up try to get bathroom. My right side nerve damage is worst than left side now. When I fell fracture some and did not know at all at the time. So as time so started to lose my front teeth one at time. So I have to have so one with when I'm up and can't drive, cook, wash my clothes, do yard work, work and the list goes on. And having Fibromyalgia the invisible disease I finally after suffering for a few years with it and GP not caring to much about what telling him about my pain what's going daily. It took me to sick get August 2020 with right leg to get the validation I needed I have this disease and treatment plan. It this just shows even rich access to best care are human beings and it sad some go shit end stick too.

About MS, that disease does kill. My ex boyfriend's grandmother died from MS and now his aunt is dying from it. It too many years for his grandmother to die and his aunt has only had it 10 months and the doctor tells her she only has maybe 2 months before she's gone. I've known her all my life and to see her fading away so fast it's scary. I saw her at the beginning of summer still able to walk but with a cane and I saw her 2 weeks ago and she's in a wheelchair, so skinny and fragile. There's not much left of her. In just a couple months too. I can't believe it. Sad. MS is so unpredictable. It can linger on in someone for years and can take someone else so quickly.

Where's Lady Gaga to rep my Fibro? Was diagnosed at 14. I'm happy they mentioned Gina Rodriguez Hashimoto's. I was diagnosed 2 years ago. I am. still in hell, and wondering why God put all this on me. Just like l was when diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. But l know l will eventually get to the point where I can accept it. Because, what choice do l have. Much love to everyone out there facing chronic illnesses. I know how terrible it feels, and how loved one's can't seem to wrap their hearts and minds around it, when you're ok one day, and the next you can't get out of bed. It's VERY hard to ask someone to plz work around th schedule of your body. Love you all.

I had Lyme disease for 20 years and was dismissed for 20 years, before a female Dr took me seriously and I could start a treatment (that included anti-malaria pills that were so so painful once absorbed in the body)
I live with nerve damage because of how late I was diagnosed and treated.
Drs are not Gods and can be highly prejudiced. Fight for your health.

I know that this list was probably limited to recent celebrities. However, the first celebrity that I remember going public was Mary Tyler Moore. I believe that she spent decades as a leading advocate concerning Diabetes.
And I think that Patty Duke was the first celebrity to talk about her struggles with mental illness.

See this is where Hollywood should just suck it. These actresses have thyroid disease is what it is so Graves disease and Hashimoto's is just part of it. So yeah their way it's going to fluctuate they're going to have moments where their eyes get buggy sure and it sucks and most women have it and it sucks

Michael J Fox actually acted in The Good Wife (and I think in the spin off The Good Fight) where his illness was an essential part of his character and it was a villain. It's brilliant! Sometimes I think the industry lacks the creativity to manage inclusion as a gain in their storytelling.

NGL I was a little bummed about T-Boz from TLC wasnt featured on the list or honorable mentions. She & I both have the same disease. Sickle Cell Anemia disease. If Ms. Mojo ever makes a part 2 to this list then maybe they can include her next time!

volunteer is a bit of a strong word to use for Selena's case. Selena's doctors did her friend dirty by informing the recipient (selena) about her friend being a match, and ultimately affecting how much of a choice she made to be a donor.

MS is a chronic disease! Ive been living with it for 20 years! There are different stages of the disease. While Selma Blair is awesome to shine a light on the disease shes not the first or the last celebrity with this disease!

Kevin Durant and Micheal Phelps should be on here for Marfans syndrome! Everytime I watch Kevin play I'm terrified he will roll his ankle. Also, Micheal Phelps broke a long tine world record despite his disorder.

From all these diseases, it is ridiculous to put someone with a very treatable disease like Hashimoto on the list.
I have it and i am very healthy without any restrictions other than taking one pill daily

Ummm - Magic Johnson? Especially when you consider when he went public with his AIDS diagnosis: it was absolutely considered a death sentence at the time, and not just medically

I have Hashimotos disease myself. Its really hard some days so o can understand on a visceral level how so many of these celebrities feel when their body betrays them.

Val Kilmer should be on this list for his Stage 4 throat cancer resulting in the emergency tracheostomies which saved his life. He would have died without the procedure.

Avril Lavigne's album Head Above Water is honestly the most beautiful and inspirational album of it's time, you can feel how much she poured her heart into it, bless her
