Ive never really formed an opinion on the Ross and Rachel break. But I think now I believe that a break is not a break up. They put distance between themselves so they could think about everything that happened and then decide if they were going to officially break up later. Regardless, Ross moving on THAT fast really rubbed me the wrong way whether they were broken up or not. I know he cared for Rachel and really did love her, but that made it seem like he didnt. I would have been more mad than Rachel and probably wouldnt have spoken to Ross for a very, very long time. He was never really my favorite character just because of the terrible decisions he made throughout the show. The other characters were dumb in their own ways, but they were silly dumb. Ross was dumb with big life decisions and didnt really think about the long term affects of his actions. He was too impulsive, which made him too unstable for Rachel. I know he regretted what he did, but it still didnt change how much it hurt her. That kind of situation is so hard for a woman to wrap her head around. I wish they would have had him do better. He would have been likable if it werent for his impulsivity.

As a _Buffy the Vampire Slayer_ fan I highly disagree with it being on the list, whether or not Spike was an option. Their breakup wasn't sad to me (if anything Buffy sending him to hell was the heartbreaking moment of their relationship. They weren't just doomed from the start because he was a vampire and she was the slayer. They were also doomed because he was a 240+ year old vampire, who in human years died at the age of 26, who was stalking Buffy at 15, meeting and dating her at 16, and sleeping with her at 17. The age of consent in California (where the show's in-universe takes place) is 18. Add the vampire issues, curse and all, they needed to break up. But it wasn't because he decided he had enough. It was because he knew he wasn't right for her and needed to do what he finally realized was right. I see very few fans nowadays considering it a tragedy (although I'm sure those fans are out there.

seeing Alison DiLaurentis sign divorce papers on PLL: The Perfectionists ( which was otherwise a great continuation that didn't deserve to get cancelled on a cliffhanger. ) is still the one that hurts the most for me at the moment. especially since the supposed reason for said divorce was something she & Emily had already worked through and gotten past at the end of the main PLL series. PLEASE let Original Sin somehow reveal they reconciled in season 2.
also, though I prefer Tommy & Kat as a couple it's still heartbreaking to watch Tommy Oliver getting a dear John letter from Kimberly Hart during Power Rangers Zeo ( especially since the comics have since revealed the whole story from her side. )
oh, and Ally McBeal & Larry Paul. while the real world reasons were understandable, the characters were so great together their breakup still breaks my heart to watch

Personally, I found Blaine and Kurt's breakup, much more heartbreaking than Santana's and Brittany's.
When the new writers came on, in season 3, they completely changed Blaine's character. He went from being confident, easy going, sensible and probably the most mature character on the show (with the exception of Kurt's dad); to being anxious, insecure and paranoid. And season 2 Blaine, would never have cheated on Kurt.
I also never thought that Brittany loved Santana, as much as Santana loved her.
However, I agree with you, on Naya Rivera's version of Mine. It was beautiful, flawless, heart-wrenching and somehow it managed, to make me like a Tayler Swift song. Which I thought was impossible! Naya was actually my favorite female singer, on Glee. She was a great talent, gone to soon!

He was a thirty-year old divorcee, with a child, and major trust issues, brought on by the loss of his cheating wife. She was a young woman starting her career and didn't have time to care about her boyfriend. Ross was ready to settle down and grow old with somebody. Rachel had just literally run from the alter, because she didn't want to get married until she learned who she was. Hell, in my opinion they were brought together, out of guilt and gratitude, after she saw what he was prepared to do for her in that prom video. That's not a good basis for starting a relationship.

Actually, Buffy and Angel's breakup in The Prom, is perfectly understandable. He didn't break up with her because he'd had enough. He broke up with her because he honestly thought that he was doing what was best for her. He wanted her to have the chance for a normal relationship.
For me, Pacey breaking up with Joey at the Prom and humiliating her in front of everyone is absolutely despicable. I've never been a big fan of Joey, and Pacey is my favorite character. But I felt for Joey so much during that scene, and what he did is still disgusting to me.

I was actually happy when Jackson and April broke up: I always found her extremely annoying, unbereable and pretty much dull, not to mention all her religious nonsense. Hoped Jackson would settle with Stephanie, when he started dating her, but no, of course, he had to go back with April.
As for Carrie and Aiden. Besides the fact I just can't stand Carrie, always thought Aidan has nice as only defining character trait, making him pretty plain and uninteresting.

Ross and Rachel are a perfect example for not saying what you don't mean or picking your words with extreme care.
If I'm extremely honest I could absolutely see me finding myself in this kind of situation if words weren't chosen carefully.
If one or both partners are typically weak when it comes to the need for touch or in the most basic case just need to be needed and find that when they are destroyed in this way. I can see it.

Elena and Stefans breakup from the vampire diaries shouldve been on here. Elena broke up with Stefan because of her sire bond to Damon. And even when she broke the sire bond. She still stayed with him. I know Stefan was a ripper but in my opinion, Stefan was the better choice. Damon was a selfish asshole since day one. And she still fell for him. 5 years later and I still hate the decision she made.

'Friends' and Rachel/Ross. Regardless of them being on a break. it's pretty insulting when your partner is immediately boffing someone the very next day. that would hurt anyone; drunk or not is irrelevant. it's the principle. Best episode though 'ever' about the 'on a break thing'. when Chandler yelled, Oh my God if you mention that one more time I'm gonna break up with you! Classic!

Christina and Burke were a great couple, until he wanted her to change who she was. She was such a great character, refusing to compromise what she wanted in life.
Aidan and Carrie - ugh. She did not deserve him, and that relationship really showcased how awful and selfish Carrie was.

What's so crazy is that Pacey WAS smart, he just grew up without the guidance, love, and nurturing that kids need to have that awareness and confidence. He really grew a lot by the end of the series - not perfectly but definitely better. He acted or spoke like he was confident but he wasn't really. I loved him with Joey and that breakup was messed up!

Can we replace Jackson and April with Calli and Arizona? That was a slow burning fuse that took years to deteriorate and was fuelled by the trauma of Arizona losing her leg and Calli's heartbreaking attempt to fix it which ultimately only made things worse.
Jackson and April was also a rollercoaster but ultimately they did reunite.

Not really a breakup but GoT's Jaime sleeping with Brienne after several seasons of intense chemistry and a strong friendship and then leaving her the next day to go be with Cersei was such a gut punch. They worked so hard to make his character redeemable and likable and it was for absolutely NOTHING in the end.

i wasn't sad when Angel and Buffy broke up, i was happy. i didn't like Angel. he keeps saying that they cant be together but he keeps showing up knowing how much it hurts Buffy. also he knew that he could lose his soul by being with her and cause her pain but stayed with her until he lost his soul.

I think JD from Scrubs ruining Elliott's relationship just as she'd finally moved on from him only to admit that he wasn't in love with her was disgusting. Brucas breaking up broke my heart. Lucas and Peyton put Brooke through so much pain. Ross and Rachel was both intense and painful to watch

As a Greys fan Im glad to see Christina and Burke in this list. I loved them together and missed Burke when he left. As for Jackson and April, Im probably the only person in the world who never liked April. Not even a little bit. Now for SATC, Carrie didnt deserve Aiden. He was too nice a guy.

My wife and I was discussing himym yesterday. I agree with the barney and robin divorce only because I wanted to see lily and marshall never get back together until the end or something. Because sometimes love isnt enough for somebody to sacrifice their dreams.

Angel and Buffy's break up was understandable. He knew that he couldn't give her a future.
A truly unforgivable break up is Alex and Jo from Grey's anatomy. He up and ends their marriage in a letter, after he was gone for who knows how long

In regards to whether or not Ross and Rachel were on a break. I think the big issue was that they didn't communicate the expectations of what being on a break were. Therefore, I think both parties are at fault and there is no right or wrong side.

It doesnt even matter if Ross and Rachel were on a break or not. It was barely a day and he slept with someone else. Ross was terrible for Rachel, I get why they got back together in the end but throughout the show, he doesnt really deserve her.

I maybe in the minority but As we move into 2023, can we permanently retire Friends from any list? I continuously skip their parts of every video. I have never seen the show (on purpose) but I keep seeing the same moments, lol.

just alone for the brittana break up i have to give a thumbs up. this devastaed me so much. at the time it felt like such a grown up decision for these two but it sure broke my heart. glad they got to be together in the end
