Watching The Crown Season 5, we're not sure what's real and what's a recreation. For this list, well be looking at Royal events, characters, and famous moments and seeing how accurately theyve been replicated in The Crowns fifth season. Our countdown includes Prime Minister John Major, the revenge dress, the Annus Horribilis speech, and more! Which recreation did YOU think was the most uncanny?

It seemed this season of The Crown was a bit rushed trying to cover a lot of ground. The interview with Charles was not as close to the real thing as I hoped. Perhaps Josh O'Connor had his gestures down better. Seeing the real Charles' face and body language is the only way to watch that interview. It seemed the monarchy wanted Diana to live with the adultery and mistress, but it was denied and covered up, yet the tapes of his conversation with Camilla were during both their marriages. The act of the revenge dress is typical action in any divorce. MsMojo when you refer to Dodi you had to add her future lover, so when you speak of Camilla should you not say his longtime mistress? I think the readers know who they are. During this season The Crown showed the Queen and Anne saying she saw a different Charles and then they showed his suits with their campaign to show him as a new monarch who would reach out to the people. That wasn't his idea. Diana did that and was bullied about it. Just like they had Charles saying he wanted the monarchy to pay a little more for themselves. Isn't that what Harry did? You did not show those scenes. I wanted to hear how Charles program helped the less privileged and not try to make him look cool because he danced with them. How involved was he with the program? Of course I will look this up, but would have like the show to provide some footage (if there is any. If you really want the audience to move on stop bringing up what's already been.

As an Englishman, watching clips from this TV show called The Crown makes me very sad that British actors can betray their Monarch of seventy years, HM Queen Elizabeth II who so recently sadly died.
So much that we cannot know about is made up, to sell subscriptions to Netflix, and an American audience. None of the actors look remotely like the characters they portray and the locations are equally strange. Her Majesty made her Annus Horribilis speech at Guildhall NOT Greenwich, but you can understand that the Lord Mayor would not permit the use of Guildhall.
Similarly the fire at Windsor Cassellwas filmed at somewhere that did not look remotely like the real thing.
Still, you Americans have your own royal family now, the Duke and Duchess of Montecito, and I look forward to seeing that Netflix show.

I think Elizabeth Dubicky portrayed Diana perfectly however in that interview her eye makeup was much heavier than Diana's on the side by side comparison, something that would've been easily fixed. Diana was a hoid hearted woman who really didn't know what she was getting into, even with her aristocratic blue blood. Her youth and idealistic nsture was thrown a massive curve ball and it seems Charles wasn't willing to help her cope. He wasn't treated all that well himself. A terrible waste of a lovrly woman whom if he had truly loved her would've helped her to bloom and shine and be a wonderful Queen which we would now be enjoying. I am proud of Prince Wm and Catherine as they seem to be making choices for the health and happiness of being a couple and parents of 3 beautiful children.

Nothing is to standard in The Crown season five. Not the casting, production values or the script. Debicki does a decent job but not up to Emma Corrin's level. In the Bashir interview she's a shade too grief-stricken and not so ironic as Diana. With many of the others it took a moment to decide who they were supposed to be. Imelda Stauton is too common sounding and in posture to be the Queen; and Jonathan Pryce nothing like Prince Philip and his ramrod military posture, flippant attitude and charm.

Diana was more then just a specific type of hair and makeup, or a tone of voice. Diana was a persona, a phenomenon. so while they may be able to recreate the same hairstyle and dresses, portraying the inner struggles and outer facade of Diana and exposing her inner sadness just through her eyes and smiles has not been achieved by Elizabeth Debiki. Her Diana is cut out too sharp

Everyone complains that the actor portraying Charles was micast (as he himself noted his surprise that they wanted him since he also thinks he looks nothing like him. However, the real twist for me is how they changed the look of the Queen Mother from the first four seasons. She is not so thin with a turtle-like neck. I always remember her as being a bit on the plumper side.

Although the actress did a good job portraying Diana, she didnt seem to capture Dianas eyes. Diana always had this warmth, shy look in her eyes like it talks gently to you. The actress from The Crown had this cold, glare in her eyes and I think shes missing that very important detail. I do think of all the actresses who played Diana, Kristen Stewart is the closest one.

She was so pure everybody can realize and feels that. This series tried to rescue Elizabeth second and Charles. I have not idea how the British people let him to be king and still seeing this family as a royal. Nonsens. And the actors whos played Princess Dania at the Panorama Interview her face seems unpleasant indeed Dianas face was pure sorrow and genuine.

Actually Diana, if we count all of your adulterous affairs, I'd say there were probably 20+ people in the marriage.
You know one thing I hope people begin to take away from this show is a new understanding, not only of how truly full of shit Diana was, but of how much real emotional harm she caused to the Queen and her family.

I agree the actress is very loyal to the looks and gestures of Diana. But something really bothers me deep down: Diana's gaze down, posture and facial expressions seemed rather sweet and shy to me. While Debrick's acting seems to be more passive-agressive and even a little bit colder than the original.

I have governments in all countries to unite bridge pillars as high as one or two meters so that if a car hits a bridge support it can still slide not as badly as a car hits a bridge pillar so that an accident hitting pillar like what happened to princess Diana does not happen again sorry and thank you

The Diana actress voice is spot on but I think I'm the only one that thinks she's a bit gimicky looking. she looks silly with dianas hair cut, her neck is too long and she's a lot more slender. I wish they kept the same actress from the other season.

The actress who played Diana made a great job but she hasnt touched my heart. She never seems sad in the tender unique way Diana was She seems more spoiled or angry or bitter or bored than sad and blue, I dont know Expecially in the bbc interview

I believe thats what happen! Him blaming her just to wash out his dirty soul and the cow he chose to be with! And now we will all a e to go thru the fight of those two ugly cheaters thugs! Poor princess Diana! She didnt do anything wrong!

The actor playing that played Charles may not of looked like him but he did well at making me hate Charles. The actor was spot on with his conniving selfish ways. Charles truly blames everyone for his mistakes.

I loved actress Elizabeth Debicky the most. she was able to recreate Princess Diana. to the hilt! I also enjoyed the actor who played the part of Prince Charles! Also the actress who portrayed Camilla.

I'm sorry but they don't need to be 'accurately replicated'. It is not a documentary, it's a fictional Netflix series BASED upon the real life events. Besides, it's a great show with amazing actors.

JLM made the PM likable. DW was an excellent PC. But IS and ED didn't capture QEll or Diana at all imho. Maybe bc I love them both so much, theres just no sub for the real thing.

Casting this year was incredible, Diana of course was magnificent by Elizabeth Debecki, Tony Blair was great, Johnny Lee Miller was amazing as John Major. They were all great!
reply

I think that the series often aims to the aura of those moments, showing some glimpses of reality instead of following the actual true, and they have been doing a great job.

Knowing what we know now, the interviewer Martin Bashir is an A Hole, forging documents to coerced Princess Diana into giving an interview about her private life.

The actor who plays Prinz Charles does a good job but is just way too good looking in comparison to the real one. Preferred the cast of his younger years

Elizabeth Debicki's roots are Polish and her last name should be pronounce Debitzki because c+k is not k is c(tz)+k. I can't stand butchering it.

The rubbish that harry put his poor mother through. How ashamed she is if she still alive. Maybe she will suicide if she lived today

One thing i anticipate for the crown if there is next season will be prince andrew involvement with jeffrey epstien and his bbc interview

There is no way that a 2022 stylist can make an actress's hair look quite are beautiful as Diana's hair did in the 1995 interview!
reply

All I know is Prince Charles who is finally now King Charles finally got what he wanted and really did treat Diana like she was nothing!
reply

why do the actresses who play Diana look slightly deranged when they try either her smile or the wounded Doe look? over acting at its worst.
reply

She played Princess Diana in a wonderful way. It's quite a shame that Prince Charles never Loved Princess Diana he only wanted a child.
reply

Watching Eliabeth Debicki re-enact the Panorama interview was sooo spooky, I was like Diana has come back to tell us the truth!
