If only Meryl Streep had spent as much time and effort on learning to speak with an Australian accent in 'Evil Angels'. Don't get me wrong, I love Meryl and I think she's brilliant, and to be fair, the Australian accent is said to be one of the hardest to mimic, but. as an Australian, her accent was a little disappointing in the movie,

Pity Meryl's language stuff didn't translate into an Aussie accent for Evil Angels. She was truly terrible at an Aussie accent! A dingo stole my baby has become a multi-generational meme, largely due to how terrible her accent was. It takes something pretty bad to have generations laughing at a mother saying her baby's been murdered

I admire all of these fine actors and even more so with their acquired language skills. If Elfin is considered a language, need to add honorable mention for Emilia Clark, Jason Mamoa, Iain Glen, Nathalie Emmanuel and others that learned Dothraki and Old Valerian languages from Game of Thrones.

I've watched 'The Curse of Turandot' (a Chinese fantasy film); Dylan Sprouse [yes, that Dylan Sprouse from Disney's The Suite life of Zach and Cody] had six months to learn Mandarin Chinese for his role as Prince Calaf; this included the intonations for certain words!

Little girl not even being a native english speaker learned language that very few speak fluently, and used it through the whole movie almost excusively, and got only last place? Chalamet, and Thurman spoke a few lines only and still they are higher. WTH!

What about the cast of Avatar? They had to learn a whole new made up language created from linguists. I figured if Elvish was in this countdown, the Na'Vi language would've been at least in the top 3
edit: forgot the word linguist exists lol

Talk about dedication to their craft. My favourite example was probably the Quiet Place cast learning ASL. Millicent Simmonds was fantastic as Regan, she gave it her all alongside more experienced actors like John Krasinski and Emily Blunt.

That's really works when you really love what you do. I've teached myself English too because I wanted to tell one of my latin favorite artist that, I love him. Sadly he won't know lol.

I think that sign language should be a more accessible language. I was able to easily learn Spanish or French in junior high and high school, but would have loved to learn ASL.

No honorable mentions? I dunno how many time he has had to use his polyglot skills, but I think Daniel Bruhl speaks like 5 or 6 languages.

Viggo Morganstien was fabulous in Eastern Promises. no one I know has seen it, but I thought he was incredible, as always.

Most of those actors don't really speak those languages, they just learn and memorize the lines on the script.

These actors really put the term dedication to another level! Hats off to all of them for their acting skills!

The so called medieval samurai speech Uma delivered is really modern day Cantonese, widely spoken in HK.

Kudos to Meryl for speaking Polish, German and English on screen. She's truly a lady of multiple talents!
