We're not crying, you're crying! For this list, well be looking at the most impactful and moving things celebrities have said after winning awards. Our countdown includes speeches by Halle Berry, Ari'el Stachel, Selma Blair and more! Which speech brought a tear to your eye?
Date: 2023-11-21

Comments and reviews: 30

Ben Platt's Tony (He was so young and so excited. And I don't want to hear anything about nepotism. If anyone was lucky enough to see Ben Platt play Evan Hansen on Broadway, you know how much he deserved that award)
Nicole Kidman's Oscar (I always wanted to make my mother proud, and now I want to make my daughter proud)
Christian Bale's Oscar (He cried! And big, tough Christian Bale never cries. Even he was shocked by it)
Joaquin Phoenix's Oscar (The mention of his late brother. )
I'm sure I can think of more.
Olivia Colman's Oscar speech was also fantastic, but that made me laugh more than cry. And when she said, This won't happen again, I think she was VERY wrong.
Oprah's speech in the wake of the Me Too movement was incredibly powerful.
Meryl Streep at the 2017 Golden Globes. (This one doesn't need commentary. If you know, you know)

Yeah, those are great speeches and all, but Will Smiths emotional speech at the Oscars last year shouldve been #1 (Im not going to talk about the slap. He gave his performance very well in King Richard that lead him to become the first black actor to win an Oscar for Best Actor, something the Oscars shouldve done in a long time since the Best Actor award was always given to a white man.

Joaquin Phoenix's 2020 Best Actor Oscar acceptance speech was very beautiful and very honest. Phoenix's speech should have been either in the top 5 of this list or at least an honorable mention. My favorite part of Phoenix's speech was when he used a quote from a lyric his late brother, River, had written before he passed on in 1993. Run to the rescue with love and peace will follow.

Dan Levy's acceptance speech at the GLAAD Media Awards 2019 was one of the most emotional acceptance speeches I ever heard.
Dan spoke of how difficult it was to see the person that he had crushed on in secret fall in love with somebody else. Wow! That broke my heart to hear him say that. But he bounced back from it and had some great female friends who kept his secret for him.

Please be honest. These are not the most touching award show speeches of all time. These are the most touching award show speeches of the 21st century. And with the exception of one, those since 2010. Anybody over 40 on your panel? Anybody ever see, e. g, Louise Fletcher's Best Actress in a Supporting Role speech?
reply

Good video, but why didnt Ms Mojo show part of the speeches of the first black woman to get an Oscar, Hattie McDaniel or the fist black womans speech who got best actress, Halle Berry? Parts of their speeches could have been shown by cutting some of the time of other speeches and was easily possible.
reply

Hattie McDaniel won an Oscar but couldnt even go to the movie premiere in Atlanta due to segregation. Clark Gable wanted to skip in solidarity, but she asked him not to. Unfortunately, Hatties Oscar has been lost. The Academy should give her a Governors Award.
reply

Did not get it there still blocks on it why AKA Quan was born on August 20th the same as benjamin harrison was born my kind and Brad pitt was born on December 18th the same as stephen stealburg see those are blocks and it was a Tuesday as well.

Hattie McDaniel ABSOFREAKINGLUTELY deserved to be #1 on this list! NONE of the other poc individuals on this list would have been possible without her paving the way first! This is why I will ALWAYS love Gone with the Wind. (Book and movie)
reply

Eh. something about this list. isn't really that effective or emotional. But then again the fact half of the list is just because its a protest/movement to some message sounding more like Advertisements to me than accolades.
reply

I adore Lin Manuel's 2016 Tony win speach. It was so him.
I also love the line from Lena's speach, The world would not be as beautiful as it is if we weren't in it.
Also, add ANY speach from Sheryl Lee Ralph on here.

reply

The guys who made this list are probably 20 year olds who dont know anything about the great speeches BEFORE 2010 except for that halle berry and hattie mcdaniel black women speeches! LOL
reply

You are WRONG! The frst black woman to receive an Oscar was Hattie McDaniel for the role of Mammy in Gone with the Wind. You should check your sources before making such false claims.
reply

Joaquin Phoenix absolutely deserved to be on this list. Instead of talking about his achievements, he took a moment to talk about the animal rights and his late brother. What a legend!
reply

Tom Hanks speech when he got the Oscar should have been on the list. We know their names, they number a thousand for each one of the red ribbons we wear here tonight.
reply

Very very great epic list I like it a lot very very great job mis mojo one of my absolute favorite list ever Austin Butler speech should have been on this great list
reply

No rank for the old lady holocaust survivor during one of the Oscars show who even caused the background player who plays people off to stop and let her finish?
reply

Jamie Foxx speech when he won the Oscar was everything. He was funny of course but when he started talking about his grandmother that was really emotional.
reply

Ok, so. This is a long shot but does anyone know who is the actress in 13: 02? I'm trying to remember a show she was in it, but I can't remember her name.
reply

I think Troy Kotsur should have been on the list for Supporting Actor at the Oscars last year. Because of the drama, all the other wins were forgotten.
reply

Ke Huy Quan speech made me smile. Decades of not working in Hollywood and made a comeback and winning a Golden Globe iswow. Im so proud of him.
reply

give it up for steve kazee's best actor tony speech. his comments about his recently deceased mother were tear-inducing, for sure.
reply

Sean Penns speech when he did milk should be here, Guillermo Del Toro's for shape of water, & Joaquin Pheonix's speech should be here.
reply

Everyone, do yourself a favour and look up the acceptance speech for Graham Moore winning an Academy Award for The Imitation Game.
reply

The speech that always gets me is Tory Kotsurs speech at the Oscar in 2022! The amount of emotion you can read on his face, wow!
reply

Lea Micheles 2013 teen choice awards speech was pretty emocional, it was her first public appearance after Cory died. So touching
reply

I couldn't agree with it more Hattie McDaniel she is great actress and performance in Gone With The Wind still gets me
reply

Susan Lucci's 1999 Emmy win should be on here! To finally get the win after 19 nominations. an electric moment in time.
reply

How did Alex Borstein's Emmy speech where she talked about her grandmother's escape from the Holocaust not make the list?
reply

As much as Id love Anthony Hopkins as an actor I think the academy shouldve gave the Oscar to Chadwick that year
