Top 20 Best Pop Songs of the Last Decade

Top 20 Best Pop Songs of the Last Decade

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
It's been another great decade for pop songs. For this list, well be looking at the best the genre had to offer between 2012 and 2022. Our countdown includes Wrecking Ball, Thank U, Next, Shake It Off, and more! What's YOUR favorite pop song? Before claiming that the last decade and pop music is anything to be excited about. Try listening to pop music of the last 50 years and ask yourself if we've not actually gone increasingly backwards. Taste, it's pretty undeniable Pop music today is overly manufactured, superficial and for the most part lacking in originality. Yes, we have teams of songwriters now writing songs that will last for weeks are months before they disappear, as opposed to a single person coming up something that will last for decades

Songs that should DEFINITELY have made the cut:
- Meghan Trainor, All About that Bass
- Katy Perry, Dark Horse
- Carly Rae Jepsen, Call Me Maybe
- Justin Bieber, Sorry
- Fifth Harmony, Work from Home
- Adele, Hello
- I would have changed Dont Start now by New Rules
- I would have changed Shake it Off by Blank Space

I think this list captures how poor the last 10 years were in music.
Several bops on here: Rihanna, Beyonce, Sia, Lorde, The Weeknd, Mark Ronson.
But the rest are lukewarm or only serviceable. There are better pop songs that were only moderate hits/flew under the radar.

I love Ariana, I have all her albums in physical copies, but I think Thank U, Next is one of her worst songs. It's boring, unoriginal, and the lyrics are mediocre. She has a lot of better songs!

songs that could be included:
- no tears left to cry
- havana
- dark horse
- style
- hello
- good as hell remix
- cant remember to forget you
- love me like you do

I'm glad Miley Cyrus's Bangerz got a spot. I was thinking We Can't Stop but Wrecking Ball is better. Love the list. Only song I would add is Sorry or Where are U now by Justin Bieber.

reply

yay. And here I was thinking. where is Bruno Mars? I'm so happy he made the list. for the past decade he 's been consistent in giving us really good music.
reply

Everytime I think of Happy now, I remember that lady that died right after making a fb post while driving about how much she loved the song

Where in this video is Bang Bang from Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj? This music is the most iconic pop song of the past 10 years.

Why Despacito is at n. 20 it should be higher, its know in all countries in the world and had more impact than half of these songs.
reply

We need a part 2 and maybe even a third one. Too many quality songs missing.
Perhaps you consider doing for other genres too

Uhm, where is Coldplay? A Sky Full of Stars maybe? And P! nk with Just Like Fire, What About Us or Just Give Me a Reason?
