Honestly, I would've put Danity Kane on the list over the K-Pop group AOA. Danity Kane were pretty successful (2 #1 albums, 3 million records sold, sold-out tours) but they were plagued by bad management (including awful 360 contracts which made them little to no money) and all of it headed by Puffy & his ego. It was all filmed on MTV's Making the Band, where Puffy ended up firing Aubrey & D. Woods from the group and soon Dawn was the only one left standing.
They reunited a couple of times since then but more drama ensued, including a physical fight with Dawn and Aubrey. If you ask me, they could've been as big as Destiny's Child and TLC were but it wasn't meant to be.

It turned out Jimin was not the bully and Mina has been harassing Jimin ever since, as well as trying to play the victim in every situation she got caught lying in or being in the wrong. She had mental health issues and the situation of the South Korean industry being terrible contributed to that, but Jimin was not to blame for it. She is also a victim of their situation and treatment by the company, and multiple members and staff have disproven Minas claims. So if you are going to mention AOA, tell the whole story

Love that you included the AOA one. Hate that you left out the largest details. You know, like Mina claiming self-harm due to the bullying and then posting pictures of that same self-harm on social media and then Mina appearing to have fabricated the entire thing. It basically ruined the careers of the group as a whole as well as the careers of the individual members.

As far as 'Girl GROUPS ' go. If anyone wants to know who is the 'real' star of the group is, just see who leaves and then blows up popular. People can say there isn't just ONE 'popular' member, unless you see who has gone and how it fell apart after they have left. OR, how the groups was 'less popular' after the departure, let's say.

I loooove Girls Aloud but in the UK, the Sugababes were definitely more mired in controversy due to their ever shifting lineups. I was 15 when the management ousted Keisha from the group and not only it was sad bc she was such a driving force, but also cause Heidi, Amelle and new girl Jade took too much heat from the media.

U used the word millennials when talking about the spice girls. U said Geri leaving was devastating for tonnes of millennials but it was before their time. I was born in the late 80s so Im a 90s child, so the spice girls was the 90s kids generation. I know I sound pathetic but just wanted to mention it lol

I was so heartbroken by Geri's departure from the Spice Girls. They were really magical to a gay kid like me, pop perfection, colors, girl power, the personalities, their voices! . They looked like anime characters, I mean.
Also love Destiny's Child, TLC and enjoyed Pussycat Dolls.

My biggest question concerning half of these bands is: Who?
Then, Geri leaving the Spice Girls on good terms is not really a scandal. just a surprise.
That leaves us four actual BIG scandals: Surpremes, Destiny's Child, Pussycat Dolls and TLC.

In the case of AOA, it was later revealed that Mina had been caught in lies and inconsistencies. Netizens apologized to Jimin as they were quick to judge and blame her without getting the full story. She is making her comeback in the k-pop industry.

The TLC appearance on the MTV Music Videos Awards show really broke my heart oh my gosh I was like how much WORSE could my graduation year be. 9/11, Aaliyah's death and Left Eye in the car accident before I graduated from high school
reply

I consider Geri leaving the Spice Girls my first true heartbreak as a child! I couldn't believe the news when it first came out and then it turned into a media frenzy. I was so sad and mad at Geri at the time. it was insane.

Seeing people say Fifth Harmony lacked chemistry is so funny as a someone who kept up with them semi-daily during their time together because 90% of their fanbase existed based off their friendships with each other.
reply

There's something else I forgot to say about little mix: I got to give credit to little mix for sticking together for so many years because usually girl groups don't last long so I gotta give them credit for that.
reply

I knew from the start Fifth Harmony wouldnt last because each girl was trying to be in the spotlight where the Little Mix girls at least made it appear like they were happy to share the spotlight
reply

Honorable Mention: Sugababes who kicked a girl out the group just as they released a new album. She didnt know that the group had the new member re-recording all her vocals behind her back!
reply

The problem with a lot of bands is that they often have one who is pushed forward as the better singer such as Steps Claire was the best singer, in Spice Girls Mel C was the best singer
reply

Florence Ballard was raped and after that she abused alcohol. It was very sad. She ended up broke and on welfare. When she got her life back and overcame her demons, she died young.
reply

I feel like Lisa Lopes never got the recognition for her talent in this lifetime. Her rapping was truly amazing. I loved TLC because their songs had such depth, even No Scrubs,
reply

I love that the Spice Girls never announced that they broke up. Theyve gone off and done separate things but theyve never actually broken up.
reply

I hate and can't Stand When someone apologize keep Saying so Young u were and old Enough to Understabd What right and What Wrong.
reply

Stab to the heart was seeing TLC's tearful speech, twist of the blade is seeing Brittany Murphy in the audience. RIP to both.
reply

I remember when the Spice Girls released Goodbye and I sobbed through the whole thing. I was heartbroken when Geri left.
reply

How can they leave out that Mina actually lied! They should have mentioned it while speaking about the AOA scandal
reply

They should also talk about the feud on brazilian pop group ROUGE. its part of brazilian pop music history
reply

AOA was SOMETHING. I mean, we know how hard these things are in kpop but Mina saying that was A THING. OMG.
reply

Surprised Danity Kane did not make the list. So many issues within that group. I love them and miss them!
