Ya gotta be a pro to master these pop songs. For this list, well be looking at the most difficult songs to replicate for their high notes, tough melodies, and/or impossible performance requirements. Our countdown includes Bohemian Rhapsody, Hello, Listen, and more! What do YOU think is the hardest song to handle?

To add Prince's Purple Rain, which is easily covered by stage bands, and to omit Boston's More than a Feeling, which few bands even try to cover, is ridiculous. Also, you seem to only use modern music. ABBA's Dancing Queen is far more difficult a range to sing than some of the songs you mentioned for female artists here. It seems that music of the past doesn't count to you, but you include Frankie Vally, but leave out everything the Bee Gees sang, after getting kicked in the balls by a horse? What's up with that! Surely no guy is willing to do that nowadays for the musical arts. They were truly unique (or should I say Eunuch. Of course, Mariah Carry deserves to be here, as well as Celine Dion, Whitney Houston & Christina Aguilera, just for their incredible voice and range. No objections there.

There there are a ton of Mariah Carey songs that should be on this list
Fantasy
Honey
Vision of love
My all is particularly difficult because of the extremely high to low register
I'm kind of disappointed that never be the same (Camilla cabello) wasn't on here as you have to go from low notes to high notes, back and forth while you're also switching from falsetto to chest voice. There aren't that many runs but it is a hard song to do

Most difficult, an awful lot of A-ha stuff, few people have his range, plus they have the record breaking summer moved on, note held for over 20 seconds and it's been performed live many times.
I would argue that most performances in this list are average at best, studio trickery making it sound better than it actually is.
If you want a decent modern artist then look up Susanne Sundfor, that's talent.

One of the greatest voices in pop history is
DONNA SUMMER. Pick any song, and listen to her range, power, tenuto (as opposed to the vocal gymnastics used by women today, and (something that on MOST female vocalists that doesnt stand out) her DEPTH! None of the great female vocalists have that depth she had. Still under appreciated as ever, and DEFINITELY NOT just a DISCO QUEEN.

I just dont get all the buzz about Prince's musical genius.
I think kiss is an amazing song, but what is so special about Purple Rain? I mean musically.
The man seems pretty creepy and megalomaniac to me.
Kind of like Michael Jackson, but less pdo and terrifying visually.

Runners up:
Run to you by Whitney Houston
Sherry by the 4 Seasons
I Believe in a Thing called Love by The Darkness
Loving you - Minnie Riverton
Bleeding Love - Leona Lewis
Blue Bayou - Linda Ronstadt
Purple Rain - Prince and the Revolution

I think En Ledig Dag by Frida from ABBA is also worth mentioning here. It's a very gentle song with transitions across octaves, and she managed to maintain the general mood throughout the whole song. Check it out!

Bill Maynard's and Benny Hill's, Pheasant Plucker song is the hardest to sing.
I'm not a pheasant plucker, I'm a pheasant plucker's son, and I'm sitting plucking pheasants, till the pheasant plucker comes.

Im sad to see mariah over Whitney. sure mariah can sing high, but shes never been as consistant as the goat Whitney. No one can match the pure talent whitney had. not to mention how effortless it was for her.
reply

Bohemian Rhapsody you need like 10 people to sing it properly. Not quite an entire choir but you need more than four parts. I've tried in vain to sing this even with two or 3 friends, it never worked lol

Queensryches Geoff Tate. Sebastian Bach. Iron Maiden. Ronny James Dio. And Judas priest. Anne Wilson. Pat benetar and Annie Lennox. Robert Plant. you need another list!

Check: Air Supply - All Out Of Love, Barbra Streisand - On A Clear Day, & especially Melba Moore - The Other Side Of The Rainbow. Some MAJOR notes at the ends!

Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights has been one of my favorite songs ever since I was a little girl. I heard the first time when I was 7 and I'm 34 today.

Joke's on MsMojo: the hardest song to sing is Happy Birthday. That octave jump at bir is dramatically awful any time people sing it.
reply

there are those young singers on The Voice, or AGT or BGT that darn sing nearly as good. they are replaceable. Some are even guys.
reply

I know she doesn't fit quite right in here. but Marianne Faithfull is a force to be recon for her difficult to sing songs.
reply

Technically, I suppose you could include beyonce in this list. Her songs are so difficult to sing, she can't even sing them.
reply

Virtually anything by David Bowie, I mean, has anyone tired to sing Heros?
Bohemian Rhapsody is a chinch by comparison.

reply

I'd find that the Righteous Brothers Unchained Melody and Leroy Van Dyke The Auctioneer would also be a challenge to sing.
reply

I need to put Dimash on the table! Song SOS is a perfect example. The range, the control, the sheer skill is astonishing!
reply

Way way way too many females on this list. The Top 9. Imagine if someone made a list like this with all men. SMH
reply

I read somewhere that Freddie Mercury did the back up vocals as well.
One person can't be 4 Freddie Mercurys

reply

Oh come on! Who doesn't tried to scream falsetto while playing I believe in a thing called love?
