These are all great songs that will last longer than those of us watching this video. For me, it is Over the Rainbow. as it evolves, its meaning evolves as we gt older, or it has for me. When I was a kid, it was a hopeful song. then a song that told me that I better hurry if I was going to get to there I want to be and finally, I am guessing, it will have a nostalgic meaning thinking about all the things left undone that you dreamt of when young. Glory, amazing song! Sadly, it could have been written 60 years ago and the meaning would remain the same as so little has changed for the black community and other communities that are different. Have heard Celine sing My heart. so often as it was on every radio station every moment of the day for months, if not years. in the 90's, and I am now numb to it. Moon River is just a beautifully sweet and nostalgic song and beautifully done in the film. Could go on, but won't.

There are quite a few that get to me.
In the Disney film Enchanted the song So Close gets to me when Robert sings just a couple of lines to Giselle while they're dancing.
The Wise Up (Aimee Mann) sequence in Magnolia gets me every time.
Don't Write Me Off in Music and Lyrics is also a tearjerker for me.
I don't know why, but Beauty and the Beast from Beauty and the Beast (1991) also does it to me.

I agree with a lot of these songs. I wouldve also included:
. Part of That World- The Little Mermaid
. Im So Blue- Follow that Bird
. Rainbow Connection-The Muppet Movie
. Feed the Birds-Mary Poppins
. Where Are You Christmas? -How the Grinch Stole Christmas
. Somewhere-West Side Story
. Saying Goodbye-The Muppets Take Manhattan

Great choices. Even though Moon River is a happy and gentle song it is still strong enough to bring tears. Even the instrumental version at the opening of the film is powerful. A testament to Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer's brilliant songwriting. And thanks for including Edelweiss. I get choked up seeing the Captain get choked up!

All songs on this list? Okay. Can get through all of them just fine.
Somewhere Out There from An American Tail? Still cant listen to it on the radio.
REEEEEEEEEEALLY need to re-examine this list.
(Seriously, mention that god awful song from that god awful Pearl Harbor without even mentioning An American Tail)

I think with one more look at you of Straisands Star is Born is more heart wrenching than Gagas song. My No1 would be the final rendition of Somewhere in the original West Side Story. Another big tear jerker Anatevka from Fidler on the Roof. and while we are at it Sun rise sunset

MY FAVORITES:
Hopelessly Devoted to You - Grease
Unchained Melody - Ghost
Moon River - Breakfast at Tiffany's
Over the Rainbow - The Wizard of Oz
I Will Always Love You - The Bodyguard
Somewhere - West Side Story
My Heart Will Go On - Titanic

Somewhere from the Westside Story, I walk alone and Empty sits on empty tables for Les Mis, Who wants to live forever from Highlander, Brown Eyes from Watership Hill, I will find you from Last of the Mohicans, Strange Fruit from Billy Holiday is heartbreaking too
reply

I Dreamed A Dream is a great choice to represent Les Mis on this list, but for me, Castle On A Cloud has always been the one to get the waterworks going. Cosette longing for a better life, the melody, and Isabelle Allen's voice just get me every time.
reply

As a mother whose son used to travel across the world, sometimes for a year at a time, Bring Him Home from Les Mis makes me cry whether its in film, a professional stage production, or community theatre. I think its at the top of my list.
reply

Huge mistake with not having I dont wanna miss a thing by Aerosmith on this list. I cry my eyes out every time I watch Armageddon and that song starts. A song not only about the love between two partners but also a parent and child.
reply

For me, the song that should be #1 on this list has got to be Wind Beneath My Wings -- for the sheer beauty of the song, for how it tells the story, and for how/where/when it's so brilliantly used in the movie. Period
reply

Although not strictly a musical list. I'll Cover You (reprise) from Rent. The whole heartbreak that it's only half a duet, as their partner in the song has died. Sung such a soulful way kills me every time.
reply

Neil Youngs Philadelphia from the movie of the same name is outstandingly beautiful. Springsteens Streets of Philadelphia (same movie) is equally as touching and a deserving Academy Award winner that year.
reply

Edelweiss never fails to give me the feels. Specifically when the captain pauses singing and gets choked up, reflecting on what is happening to his country. The audience joining in gives it the perfect finish.
reply

Wind Beneath My Wings was the one that gets me every time. When I watched this with my best friend back in the very early 90s, we looked at each other, tears streaming, and said, Don't you EVER die on me!
reply

#1 should be Boyz II Men rendition of It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday because damn, that song kills me every time. You could even use the Cooley High version- either way that song demands tears
reply

12: 31 Harold & Maude a must see movie for all, in your lifetime, dark comedy with deep meaning too, total tearjerker of a movie but joyful at the same time. Cat Stevens is a legend for a reason
reply

There needs to be a second list. Really need to add in Jim Varney (Yes, that Jim Varney, the man also known as Ernest) singing Gee I'm glad it's raining. Those who know, know.
reply

I swear paths of glory should have been on this list Christine Kubrick brought such emotion to the faithful hussar I bet any war veteran would tear up listening to her voice
reply

Wind Beneath My Wings was my mother's favorite song. Everytime I sing it I think of her. I barely make it through without crying. Thank you, Bette for this wonderful memory.
reply

I love Les Mis so much - but despise Anne Hathaway, and her Oscar winning performance of I Dreamed a dream is the worst rendition ever! Stick to the theatre version
reply

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I felt like Anne Hathaway butchered I Dreamed a Dream in the movie. She put way too much emotion into it, so it felt very over-acted.
reply

I always think of a song that was sung in 2 if my favourite western (Three Godfathers by John Ford and Smoky by Louis King)
THE STREETS OF LAREDO

reply

For me, the song Say It To Me Now sung by Glen Hansard in the movie Once gets to me. There arent many singers out there who emote as well as Glen Hansard
reply

You picked the wrong Mamma Mia song. The song My Love, My Life at the end of the second film is just heartbreaking, and really will make you cry.
reply

A list like this without Baby Mine from Dumbo is incomplete. that song makes me bawl like a. well, a baby separated from his mama, every single time.
reply

There's A Place For Us from the OG West Side Story gets me every time. From the first hearing cos you know what's about to happen later.
reply

My Love, My Life from Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again is superior as a tear-jerker to me than the one from the first movie.
