What makes Star Wars stand out in comparison to other science fiction releases, considering the magical powers of the Force are a far cry from the science and logic of other projects.
The Wizarding World took its inspiration from the original novels, which have crafted this expanded landscape of wizards, witches muggles and incredible gifts. Harry Potter combines so many elements from other fantasy projects but brought them together in a way that highlighted the traditional heroes of the genre and the incredible minor characters who were brought to the forefront in inventive methods. Harry Potter has created iconic arcs and locations, from the golden trio to Hogwarts itself.
Pirates of the Caribbean takes elements of pirate mythology and lore and takes them into this action adventure setting, which is a genius reimagining of classic folklores, and it will forever influence any future pirate releases. Pirates of the Caribbean has managed to cross over multiple genres is a major point worth raising. Captain Jack Sparrow continues to be a game-changing character in modern film.
The Marvel Universe draws from plenty of different locations in pop culture history, with the comics themselves becoming hugely experimental over the years. While there is plenty to dive into within the superhero and science fiction genres from the franchise, fantasy is still such an important part of the saga. The big screen of the Marvel world has not shied away from the magic and sorcery of the page. As modern cinema continues to evolve, the releases of Marvel Studios are going to be huge in how that reshaping looks for the long term.

Having been inspired by the multiple part science fiction serials of his youth, George Lucas always envisioned expanding the Star Wars universe with sequels, prequels and spinoffs. Star Wars became a global cultural phenomenon whose widespread influence continues to this day. Over four decades later, Star Wars is still one of the hottest properties in blockbuster cinema.
PIXAR made film history in the mid-1990s with Toy Story, the first ever fully computer animated feature length movie. On top of being a technological breakthrough, Toy Story was praised for its airtight storytelling, lovable characters and engaging worldbuilding. The studio followed up Toy Story with three sequels that all managed to match its universal critical acclaim. Even the fourth movie, after the third film provided pitch-perfect emotional closure, satisfied fans.
After PIXAR pioneered feature length computer animation, the movie that put the studio's closest rival DreamWorks on the map was 2001's Shrek, a subversive satire of fairy tale archetypes. Shrek 2 is widely regarded to be one of the best sequels ever made.
Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies helped to elevate the superhero genre to blockbuster status. Sam Raimi brought a traditional hero's journey to the genre, chronicling the journey of Spider-Man in three parts. Tobey Maguire's sweet, wholesome, authentically intelligent turn as Peter Parker still has yet to be topped as the definitive portrayal of the character on the screen, while villains like Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin and Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus continue to rank among the greatest supervillain performances.

Released at the beginning of the recent superhero movie boom, the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies helped establish the expectations and conventions of the modern superhero movie. The films successfully achieved comic book accuracy in a believable and grounded way. For many fans, this first big screen adaptation remains their favorite version of the character. Tobey Maguire manages to capture both the youthful energy and weight of responsibility that define Spider-Man. The strong first film and the near perfect sequel help establish the first Spider-Man franchise as an instant classic.
The Amazing Spider-Man franchise in the 2010s rebooted the famous web slinger, once again retelling his origin story but introducing new villains like Lizard and Electro, and focusing on his relationship with Gwen Stacy. Andrew Garfield's quippier and cooler take on the character helps differentiate the film from the Tobey Maguire movies.
The Spider-Man movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe found yet another way to reinvent the character, this time leaning into his youth while tying his story into the established Marvel Cinematic Universe, primarily through his relationship with Tony Stark. By emphasizing the young adult angle, the franchise is able to highlight the strengths of the character and differentiate him from every other hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With well-written villains, great action sequences and a John Hughes inspired tone, the movies are fun and engaging.

Harry Potter fans anticipated and dread the final film of the movie series they had grown up with over the years. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows gave audiences the return of the golden trio to Hogwarts, where they found and destroyed the last of the Horcruxes.
Whether viewers had read the novels or not, witnessing Harry's realization that he would have to make the most significant sacrifice for the greater good was as just as heartbreaking to see. The last moments of the battle between Voldemort's forces and Dumbledore's army, concluding with Voldemort's dramatic death, provided a release of emotions for both fans and casual watchers.

Tony Stark's story came to a stunning end with Avengers: Endgame. After over ten years of box office dominance as the centerpiece of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Robert Downey Jr. finally bowed out as the iconic Iron Man.
While Iron Man is undeniably one of the most popular characters to make the jump from comic book page to the movie screen, his sacrifice saved more than enough lives in Avengers: Endgame to make his death a necessary one. Selfless had never been a word closely associated with stark before this memorable moment, but after Avengers: Endgame, Tony Stark arguably fits the textbook definition of a hero.

Children play with toys every day, concocting imaginary worlds and creating amazing adventures, clueless to the fact that those toys come to life when they are not looking. Sheriff Woody and Buzz Lightyear were first introduced to moviegoers in Toy Story, and their suspenseful and often touching journey continued through three sequels.
Claiming the first full length, computer animated release, the Toy Story franchise is at the top of the best animated movie franchise list for fans around the world. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen lead a phenomenal lineup of voice actors throughout all four movies.

The amount of detail to attention, sticking to the source material and character development that has turned the Harry Potter franchise into an immortal cinematic experience. Most of the movies in the series pass the two-hour mark and continue the story as released separately in the novels of JK Rowling.
The only movie franchise that comes to close to the pace, detail and magnificence of the Lord of the Rings is undeniably the Harry Potter series. Its ability to hypnotize the audience into almost believing that a world like that exists is enough proof of its brilliance as a fantasy movie.

An action adventure movie in every sense of the term, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 concludes the story of the original gang following the final defeat of Thanos the Mad Titan.
Marvel's epic conclusion to the Thanos saga in Avengers: Endgame has a ripple effect throughout many of the major franchises that continue to this day. Both Darth Sidious and Thanos are the ultimate villains of their respective franchises. While both of them are powerful and have the ability to cause major pain and anguish to others, they each truly believe what they are doing is for the greater good.
Darth Sidious and Thanos are both incredibly intelligent characters as well, which is what separates them from the typical movie villain. Each character decides to put their faith in other villains, having minions do a lot of their bidding for them, while they sit in the shadows and analyze.

The first Toy Story was massively important for its time, but the franchise really finds its footing with the next installments. As PIXAR and computer animation grew, the look of the Toy Story franchise vastly improved. The stories of the films remained fun and lighthearted, but the sequels explored bittersweet ideas about growing out of childhood. The third film, knowing that part of its audience would be those who watched the original Toy Story as kids, utilized that nostalgia to tell a heartwarming story about growing up and leaving home.

As one of the most mature Disney movies, Pirates of the Caribbean has gained a large fan base of both children and adults. The movies, which were inspired by a ride at Disneyland, manage to tread the line between fun but believable, incorporating a range of enthralling characters.
Jack Sparrow is an eccentric lead, with a near slapstick physicality that draws to the screen and jokes that appeals to adults. Pirates of the Caribbean proves that there is no limit to whom the film is for with a strong narrative.

While some may believe that multiple directors working on a movie franchise may result in disjointed filmmaking, and in many instances it does, in the case of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it actually results in a stronger and more varied franchise. This variety can be seen most clearly between Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy. The Avengers are a respected group of well-known people coming together to protect the Earth. The Guardians of the Galaxy are a group of petty thieves and criminals who are forced into adventures much bigger than themselves and are antiheroes more than anything.

When looking at the Star Wars franchise as a whole, Yoda appears to fit Albus Dumbledore better, fulfilling the powerful and wise mentor who hides a lot of crucial information and guides the hero, as well as being the most powerful of the Light Side, immensely mysterious, ancient with a murky past, and a wisdom far beyond any other. In addition, like Albus Dumbledore to Voldemort, Yoda appears to be the only one who is feared by Darth Sidious.

The banter between the Avengers is one of the strongest factors behind the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We first started to see this after the release of 2012's The Avengers, but the chemistry between the heroes would only grow as the Marvel Cinematic Universe grew. This banter between the Avengers made the results of Infinity War and Endgame even more crushing for the audience, resulting in an even greater emotional reaction.
