These man ballads killed it. For this list, well be looking at times some of our favorite movie men were so overcome by emotion that the only way they could express themselves was through song. Our countdown includes Moulin Rouge, Hercules, The Muppets, and more! Which song would make YOUR Man Ballad playlist?

I was shocked to see Moulin Rouge that low because that's one of the best scenes ever put to film imho. But I'm not even mad you put Bet On It over it because as ridiculous as it is, it kinda is a banger and absolutely iconic: D I am, however, desperately missing Why from Tick, tick, Boom. Andrew Garfield put his heart and soul into that song and I would have put that in instead of the Little Mermaid one. Also Out There or Hellfire from Hunchback, but I saw those mentioned already.

'I'm just Ken' should be #1. A lesser actor would have made it a throwaway song (I read that it wasn't even a part of the movie until Ryan read the lyrics that Mark Ronson put together. Greta rewrote the script to fit it in and I think Gosling is gonna get an Oscar nod if not a win. Folks - this is the Oscar winner for best song. I hope the actor strike is done by Oscar season so we can see Ryan, Simu, and the 'Kens' perform it live on stage.

Evermore is one of the best changes made to the disney remakes.
Expressing his pain at her loss as a human, instead of a beast's roar, emphasises the change he's undergone for knowing Belle. Reverting to a beast when she left weakened his character arc by suggesting he was only changing while she was around. Instead, the song makes it stronger by showing he's a different person for having known her, even when she's gone.

I love that you included Don't Write Me Off in the Honorable Mentions! I absolutely love that movie and the music from it! It was utterly fabulous and deserved it's mention in this list. I also think that Moulin Rouge deserved a higher spot on this list, but maybe its because I watched that movie multiple times and didn't watch a number of the other movies that got higher rankings.

evermore from the Live-action Beauty and the Beast movie always pulls on my heartstrings!
the Bejinxed Beast does the Rightest thing out of his growing heart, THEN REALIZES, ( AND ACCECTS) the dark consequences for him ( his thinks)
and holds on the the memories, so she will never leave me!
I have yet to See Barbie, but now I really want to before it goes away!

Perfection that Lost in the Woods, I'm Just Ken, and Muppet or a Man are all together. Those three remind me of each other - all highlights of their respective films. And how great to include the more obscure Edgar's Prayer. That was so amazingly funny and goofy. I love all of these songs.

Stars from Les Mis movie version
All I Ever Wanted from Prince of Egypt
Out There from Hunchback of Notre Dame
Other great Man Ballads
Although I LMFAO when Peaches was on this list
IMHO, Go the Distance or Evermore should have been at 1

reply

Peaches from the Super Mario Bros. Movie, Greased Lightning from Grease, Go The Distance from Hercules, What's This from The Nightmare Before Christmas, I'm Just Ken from Barbie, Bet On It from HSM2, & You're Welcome from Moana would be on my list

I was waiting for Chat Noir's solo from Miraculous Ladybug and Chatnoir: the Movie that came out on Netflix about a month ago over the summer or Chat Noir's solo from the Miraculous Ladybug Christmas Musical special episode in Season 2

golf course from high school musical in utah was featured on Last Week/John Oliver
as a water sucking golf course in a town that takes 3-4 hrs to get to by car (not everyone can afford a private jet to St George)

Why is Wild uncharted Waters number 7? and Evermore number 5? When they should have been switched to evermore being 7 and Wild uncharted Waters as number 5 or maybe close to number 1 prince Erics song is way better!
reply

The only problem I have with this list is that for number one you have Bet On It which technically isn't the silver screen. It was a TV movie. I think you need to pick something that was actually in theaters.
reply

The first time I saw Am I a Man or Am I a Muppet, I laughed so hard I'm pretty sure I embarrassed the whole row I was sitting on, even the people that didn't know me. Especially, once Jim Parsons showed up.
reply

Wild Uncharted Waters AND Evermore
There should be a list of songs that were in remakes but not originals
Spirit from TLK
Scuttlebutt from Little Mermaid
And of course, Speechless in Aladdin

reply

0: 36 We're only considering numbers that originated on the silver screen - LIES!
Highschool Musical 2 was a TV movie. Only HM 3 was on the silver screen. Your #1 is a lie! LOL!

reply

Go the Distance is one of my all time favorites. I am sad that Out There from Hunchback or Bryan Adams' Everything I Do didn't make this list but some pretty weak songs did.
reply

I will never forget being a 14 year old having a HSM2 party to watch the premier of the movie and when Bet On It came on, teenage girls can not contain how they feel
reply

Not gonna lie, the Man or Muppet song is one of my favorite man ballads and I dont see much love for it. Im glad its on this list because I love the Muppets Movie.
reply

The coolest thing about Bet on It is that they filmed that movie in the middle of winter so he filmed that whole scene while it was freezing cold
reply

None of the ballads from Les Miserable (the Movie) or The Greatest Showman? seriously those 2 movies could have taken most of these slots.
reply

I like the list, but it waa supposed to be no musicals? How are Moulin Rouge and High School Musical not musicals? Did I miss something?
reply

totally was gonna say smth when Im Just Ken was third but i can totally say the only songs that beat it are Man or Muppet and Bet on it
reply

I DO NOT understand why everyone loves the song Peaches! MOST of the song is JUST him singing the word Peaches, it's a terrible song!
reply

I never understood why Disney chose to make Evermore for Beauty instead of using If I can't love her from the stage production
