we’re exploring the evolution of Mean Girls, from book, to film, to musical, to movie musical. Our countdown includes Queen Bees and Wannabes, Mean Girls (2004, Mean Girls (2024, and more! How has Mean Girls shaped YOUR adolescence and adulthood Leave us a grool comment below! I know in going to get hate for this but the original was iconic that I didn't think this 2024 one needed to be made. I'm not a huge fan of musicals but the songs were catchy. I just felt like the movie was awkward and they left out some things and changed some iconic things from the original movie. I don't know. I just couldn't get into it. Especially the jingle bell rock was changed to rocking around the pole. And at the Halloween party Regina didn't mention to Aaron about doing African voodoo to make her out to be weird.

I haven't seen the new movie yet but it might be okay. When comes to the original movie it's one my favorites for two reasons. First reason it's very entertaining, funny and quotable. And the second reason is because as a teenager during my junior year I experienced my own version of " girl world" when I didn't get along with another classmate. It wasn't like Regina George but she was my version of a mean girl.
Later on after me and the classmate learned to co-exist. I sorta turned into Cady. I treated another classmate badly like my bully did me and I'll always regret that. There's no excuse for what I did. " Girl World "is complicated and bullying, or mind games are things we hope to leave behind in highschool but sometimes people don't grow out of that mindset.

OK so I watched the movie musical and honestly it wasn’t bad. I just have a serious problem with comparing it to the original. However, I am extremely disappointed because I’ve seen the musical before like at the theater and prefer it way more than the movie I don’t know maybe it’s just me but like I was a little disappointed whoever I would go see it I don’t necessarily have any negative thoughts the only big thing for me is that it’s not the original.

It's soo pointless, the new one isn't gonna be half as ic
Ionic as the original movie
Its just marketed towards the Gen Z while the original was easily accessible to a more wider audience
None of the new cast seem to have star power or talent that Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried or LINDSAY LOHAN have they'll never have the career longevity that these queens have had

Do you just make shit up, Ms Mojo
No, Tina Fey did not get "fetch" from talking to teens. I just watched the Mean Girls reunion and Tina Fey herself said she made up the word as a play off "fetching". She didn't want to use current teen slang because it would be dated as the movie got older.
Who fact checks your videos Or are you just making stuff up on purpose

Watching the evolution of Mean Girls from a book to a movie, then a musical, and now a movie musical is absolutely fascinating. It's incredible how Tina Fey transformed a non-fiction book into such a culturally significant film and stage production. Each adaptation brings something new to the table while keeping the core themes intact.

I seriously doubt it will ever be as popular as the original 2004 film version. 9 out of 10 times musicals always fail on the big screen. History has already proven this to be true. They're great on Broadway and Broadway only. For a reason.
I'd rather see the Beekeeper instead. That looks awesome.

The new movie was absolute shit! I knew it was a musical but the songs were horrible! Mean Girls was a cult classic that should’ve been left alone! When it came out almost 20 years ago it was original and funny and packed with one liners that are relevant today. The remake was a Gen-Z mess

Why do we need a movie musical version of Mean Girls Two words: Renee Rapp! This role is a wonderful showcase of her talents; she unapologetically commands the audience's attention and can sing her face off. A star in the making!

Rachel McAdams and Renee Rapp were amazing as Regina George in their different interpretation. Instead of just comparing which one is the better, i rather appreciate both talented actress in playing Regina at their own way
reply

It's hard to see a modern musical adaptation of a twenty year old movie that you know inside out, and not constantly compare the two. However, all of the cast did a stellar job, with Renee Rapp stealing the show as Regina.

No one was asking for a Mean Girls remake, so why make it Yes, I get it was based on a Broadway musical, but it was pointless to adapt a musical based on a movie into a movie again.
reply

I wish that they'd marketed this movie as more of a musical in the initial trailers. People who don't particularly enjoy musicals won't appreciate being tricked into seeing one.
reply

I really hate to compare movies or series but I highly appreciate the classic ones I mean the original the og ones but I really love it so win-win for me a

For some OG fans you guys sure don’t know there was a mean girls musical which-is based on the book/screen play where it came from
reply

The fact that Tina Fey looks the same as she was 20 years ago in the original Mean Girls movie is pretty crazy. But hey, good for her
