I like all the movies in The Matrix franchise, thought they were all rather good. One movie that I thought deserved a sequel was the 1991 movie The Rocketeer. I was told that movie was going to have two more sequels, but the first movie didn't do very well at the box office, unfortunately. Movies that I felt should have stopped after the first film include The Angry Birds Movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, Percy Jackson & the Olympians movies, Diary of a Wimpy Kid franchise, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Nanny McPhee, Kick-Ass, and the 2010 remake of Clash of the Titans. I saw the first movies of Angry Birds, Alvin and the Chipmunks (saw part of the second movie, Percy Jackson & the Olympians, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Nanny McPhee (saw the second movie as well, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, and Kick-Ass (saw the second movie too, and I think those all those movies were bad, and I have not seen the sequels for the other ones. I have NOT seen Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey or the 2010 remake of Clash of the Titans, but they both look really bad to me, and I don't think I'd like those sequels any more than the first movie.

Freakin Land before Time movies! I LOVED the LBT movies as a youngster, but even as a kiddo, I could tell that they were just pumping more movies out under that name just for corporate greed rather than actual decent content; after about the third or fourth installment, I quit watching. I checked back on the series YEARS LATER only to find out that they had gotten to like, a 15th one I think WAAAAAYYY beyond its prime, definitely-and clearly just cash-grabs using the original titles/ideas but only half-baked.
Then they did the same with Fast and Furious and Pirates of the Caribbean.
A good rule for films is don’t make more than 3 films for sequels, unless they’re each independent stories, but if you’re going to, at least make EACH MOVIE just as interesting and up to par as the originals!
There are a few franchises out there that can and have pulled off more than 3, (James Bond, for instance, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe) but more often than not, more than 3 usually spells disaster

RoboCop a classic example of a one and done Story that should have ended with the first movie. The Characters arc was more less done by the end of the movie, which unfortunately the Sequels were unable to Capture.
Remo Williams The Adventure Begins had a very interesting concept that could have been expanded on in a Sequel had the Movie fared better at the Box office.

I think this should've been franchises that should've ended after a certain movie, like Fast and Furious after 7, Pirates after At World's End, and the Avengers movies (not the MCU) after Endgame. I know they did a video talking about exact moments franchise should've ended but it seems more fitting to do something similar for this video than ending after the first.

Anchorman 2- I hate that we begged for a sequel for so long and they finally did it and it was complete garbage. And I know Avatar was set up to be multiple movies but it was frustrating that the sequel felt short AND it won't be until the final movie they kill the main bad guy. I just found that ridiculously frustrating

I like THE KILLER and wouldn’t mind seeing more of it. I beat myself up for not seeing THE HANGOVER in theatres, but that’s what the sequels are for. In my opinion, THE HANGOVER: PART III is the best of the trilogy because it wraps up everything nicely.

In the case of Rambo it should had stopped after the 4th film meanwhile the Matrix should had stopped after the disastrous that was revolutions but one franchise should had stopped after the first and that would be JAWS!

Matrix should've never had sequels, same thing with American psycho and coming to America. Top gun, the Godfather, the dark knight all deserved their sequels. Honorable mention for no sequel, the purge.

I'm actually glad that The Nice Guys never received any sequels so far, since it stands up perfect as a standalone. A sequel might fail to capture the charm and magic of its predecessor.
