Can't say I agree with all on this list, but each to their own of course. I'm a bit sad, though not particularly surprised that most of these companions were from New Who. Well, pretty much every female companion in New Who, apart from Bill, which surprised me. because. well. diversity. :)
But then there was Leela, Teagan, and a bit of an odd choice perhaps, Victoria Waterfield, who's strength was not perhaps obvious as she spent a lot of time terified and screaming. But when you look at her back story, the terrifying experiences she had in Evil Of The Daleks, the terrible death of her father, the time period in which she came from, and how she was plunged in to traveling with the Doctor and facing some of the most terrifying things in such a short space of time - she actually showed huge bravery and strength of character.
But anyhoo, I enjoyed the video. It seems to me that Jodie Whitaker and all those people who say that there have not been strong and great female Roll models in Doctor Who, could do with watching this video. It's almost like they don't really know what they're on about isn't it. Lol

Essentially, the Dr. is a trickster god. A wise buffoon. All the female companions in the show have been intelligent and held an emotional center. They acted as the grounding to the show. And they were all on a relatively equal footing (or achieved an equal footing) with the doctor. (Rose, Amy, River, Martha, Clara were all strong female characters) It will be interesting to see if the writers have the ability to present a female doctor in the same buffoonish, self-depricating manner that they presented the male doctor. It will also be interesting to see if they allow the male companions be more than wacky cartoon side kicks. and be the emotional and intellectual equal to a female doctor. By their treatment of the male companions in the past and the fact that they needed to increase the number of companions to three tells me that the chances are slim to none.

Rather than Susan or Rose to name a few who were forced to leave the TARDIS (not bashing the other two.

drop Donna too honourable mentions and put k-9 at number 2 and you got a great list I'd personally rank Romana and clara higher my top 5 would probably be Sarah Jane Smith (it's Sarah Jane nothing else needs to be said)

Donna #1 The best companion. season 4 is without a doubt the best. she stood up to the doctor, became his best friend and became the most important woman in the universe but constantly doubted herself from the start that she was nothing special. Being with the doctor made her see this then she paid the price of having all of that wiped from her mind then went back to where she started. breaks my heart everytime.

Donna #1 The best companion. season 4 is without a doubt the best. she stood up to the doctor, became his best friend and became the most important woman in the universe but constantly doubted herself from the start that she was nothing special. its good to see you use the classic companions as many of them could kick the modern companions out the park, I dont agree with you putting Clara above Martha, I cant stand her, but that was a good list. And of course Sarah was no 1, classic era 2 doctors 3. 5 years 18 stories 80 episodes, then back again in new who and 5 years of her own adventures.

I'm happy you also included ClassicWho Companions, but I gotta say that I don't like Barbara at all. Actually I think shes one of the weakest.
