I've had it with people going -You can use a keyboard now because you don't have to do circle motions-. I own all types of controllers. I have a 2 DualShocks, 2 DualShock 2s, 2 360 pads and 3 different arcade sticks! Fighting games are my favorite genre and I play EXCLUSIVELY on the keyboard. Why, you ask? Because I can't perform a fireball motion without accidentally jumping on any of my other controllers!
I am stunned with the world not understanding this. Keyboards give the player DIRECT CONTROL over what's happening as opposed to sending digital input through FOUR different switches with ONE stick or D-Pad. I am insanely impressed by people who play on pads and sticks. I just don't understand how they manage not to screw up their inputs!
Here's a short story: I've played trials on KOF13 with an arcade stick. There were thing that needed some really complex stick motions to be done really fast after inputting an attack and It was just impossible for me to do with the stick. The moment I put the stick aside and went back to playing with the keyboard - I passed the trial.
About Rising Thunder - I'm really afraid of the whole F2P idea. It may lead to horrible things.
Also, single button special moves may either dramatically reduce the number of moves you have per character or cause the game to require way too many buttons.
Either way, I don't like those very mechanical lifeless robot designs so I'm not very attracted to the game's aesthetic choices. And as far as I'm concerned, aesthetics play a HUGE role in fighting games. So I probably won't be playing Rising Thunder any time soon or at all.

This looks great so far, but one thing I'm skeptical about is this variant system and how there are variants to unlock. Since this game is free to play, there has to be some way of working in in-game transactions, which mean that this game might become pay-to-win if these variants are available to purchase and if they give an edge over your opponent. Seeing that a varied and diverse move set over the basic starter move set would give an advantage and you have to unlock these variants, you might be forced to grind a lot to get a good variant build or pay for it, but I hope neither. Either way I'll probably play a lot of this once it releases, it looks awesome so far and to be honest, I'm hype.

. whats the bloody point of using mecha theme if you move completely the same as a human can! such a waste of theme. Imagine if one off them had spider leg design or a levitating one imagine the interesting moves mechs can make that humanoid character cant! -hey look Vlad has a rocket uppercut! - oh so like any other character that has a uppercut. -cool Chel has an arm canon- oh like any character that has a fireball. sigh
no im not criticizing anything about the gameplay or controls just the complete waste of theme

-It felt weird to shoot a projectile with a projectile based character just by hitting A- so pressing a single button in any other game to shoot a projectile is perfectly natural. I guess its because the game is in a different genre but still. Dat logic tho.
The game looks like fun. Looks like it plays like Street Fighter without the crazy input requirements. Not sure the robot theme and no local play will sit well with people but the game itself appears solid. Can't wait to play it: )

Let's just take the challenge out of everything. Hell let's just let the game play itself and we just watch. That's going to be fun yeah? I love when people complain about s game being to hard or complex but don't put in the time to actually learn and form muscle memory so they those issues aren't so much of a problem. Ah well guess the future of fighting games will be 1 button auto combos from now on. Great.
reply

Yeah Fighting games are supposed to be party games and most likely most people at your party will be casual or non gamers. Getting beaten up over and over again by the hard core gamer that has mastered an overly complicated button combination is not fun at all. That only turns people off to the game and defeats the entire purpose of making it in the first place.

I don't understand why people are complaining about the simplified control scheme. Taking away the emphasis on control input creates a more direct route to learning the fundamentals of fighting games. This doesn't take away all of the other games that do use conventional fighting game controls; in fact, it might make more people want to play them.

I can see this control set-up (which seems unique) may be a problem for grappler characters as dealing out huge command grab damage with a push of a button could be really unbalanced. This also seems very early but looks good can't wait to see how far this goes.

if its free to play and makes it to ps4/ps3 I will definitely give this a go. I do get a strong street fighter vibe, and if its meant to be kind of entry level with basic input but still depth to learn a character, this could we become a thing.

I really want some sort of tag team mode, no need for chaotic 2v2 with 4 people on the field at the same time but tag team is just insanely fun to play together with a mate and doing online matches against other teams.
reply

it looks great but this game was clearly designed for children under 10, Difficulty in Fighters is necessary, dumbing down Games is taking steps backwards. we need smarter humans for the future
reply

guys why cant i use my controller to play the game like game doesnt see it at all and i tryed it in Street fighter X Tekken and it works but rising thunder just doesnt see it and i cant use it at all
reply

I kinda secretly hope there will be buy-able skins and stuff in the future. But other than that this game is absolutely great. Most addicting fighting game i've ever played and it's still in alpha!
reply

Watch, the fighting game community is gonna be all over this once it's out. People always bash or overpraise a game before they ever play it. Well see if it's good when it actually exists.
reply

I really hope Riot's fighting game doesn't take influence from this game. Over simplified controls are really bad for fighing games they limit move list and make game so boring to watch.
reply

Why doesn't someone make a pc fighting game with street fighter inputs, an interesting mechanic and make it free to play with a league of legends business model. That would be sweet.
reply

So, what I'm getting from this is.
Smash Brothers turned into a simplified version of Street Fighter, with a similar 'MOBA-like' cooldowns system for special moves?

Since the company got bought by Riot and shut down the game, is there any way of getting this game now? Can't the installer be shared by anyone who already downloaded the game?
reply

So I take it this game has a dumb downed control scheme where you only need to worry about the direction of your inputs? So this is like playing a smash bros game?
reply

Wait so it will a completly free to play game and u can buy cosmetics like nosgoth. Cause Im thinking A similar system to smite because he said it was like lol.
reply

The biggest problem with this game besides the easy combos is the cool down timer. Who ever made this game got fighting games confused with a mmorpg. Lol
reply

I could see this going far. It's not the most innovative thing ever, no, but it still pretty neat. I would like to see the end product later.
reply

Vlad is actually more close in style to Gigantor / Tetsujin-28. ;) Nice homage, really digging the character designs on this one.
reply

They're not robots, they're mechs piloted by the international cast inside. It's why Dauntless has a male build but a female voice.
reply

-It feels weird to shoot a projectile by tapping A-. The Smash Bros games use simplified controls, lets not forget that
reply

They never said how many buttons, are there strong and light kicks/punches or just kick, punch, and special attack buttons?
reply

this looks like it could run on my macbook pretty ok, if they finally release it on mac, I would play it for sure.
reply

They're giant robots being piloted by people hence the voices. You even see, 'Pilot name' in the selection screen.
reply

Did they just cut & paste SF4's engine to make this? :/ So many things look exactly the same as SF4. -__- Meh.
reply

Why not humans or some kind of shit.
Puts me off so hard to see those uninteresting emotionless robots
