SONIC MANIA: Mirage Saloon Zone SONIC & TAILS Gameplay (No Commentary)

Check out a few minutes of Sonic and Tails gameplay in Sonic Mania's new Mirage Saloon Zone, played using the game's just revealed CRT filter mode I dont really like scanline filters. They seem to entirely miss the look of a CRT monitor because in addition to be interlace scanned, CRTs are also really bright and scanline filters darken the image to an annoying degree. It ruins color vibrancy most of the time. To truly pull it off you also need some slight edge blurring (CRTs didnt have a high degree of sharpness) and to up the contrast and brightness a fair bit. It wont be 100% analogous to a CRT no matter what you do but you can at least do better.
Id rather have unfiltered sprites. It wont look like an old-school TV but thats not what Im here for.\r\n

I know this game is already out, but has anyone realized that if you -Inspect Element- those play next windows at the end of the video. You can see that this was a review copy? With only Green Hill, Mirage Saloon, and Studiopolis, 1 and 2 of those stages for them to play? I'm sure this has been see before but I thought it was interesting.

fun fact: this stage is actually a stage from sonic 2 that was never added to the finished game. of course the stage didn't have all these great gimmicks, but the two stages share the same background and theme.
in my honest opinion I like seeing the team taking a forgotten stage and remastering it in this astonishing format.

There are some utterly fantastic ideas explored here. Sand loops that collapse after you swing across them, seats that swing you in place, giant seltzer bottles that create temporary loops; I think this game was made for me.

Finally SEGA heard Sonic fans. This game is beautiful.
This stage was supposed to be released in Sonic 2 and since then many people (including me) were discussing about this stage in forums more than 10 years ago.

I love the attention to detail with the wanted posters! Also, this is a very true representation of a town in the middle of a desert! I should know because I live in the desert.

I still dont understand how can Sonic Mania be just one more -Fan made game- if it's gonna be oficially released for many platforms already? At least from what I've heared.

Why do they always get the worst people to play these games? Do they try and find the single least-interested, least-familiar journalist to cover each game?
reply

wait
why are the characters that appear in sonic the fighters wanted?
Sonic, did you do somethin' illegal? Something you not telling us?

reply

Does anyone else sort of wish they went with a spite for sonic closer to the sonic 3 sprite?
Not a huge deal I just like it better.

I really like how they've finaly made a bouncy level without it needing to be very slow or carnival/glowing lights theme

The music of all the entire game seems to be a huge step forward. It's so damn good, like back in Sonic 3.

bruh 3: 19 I laughed my ass off -, and this game looks great too I'm definitely picking this up no question

Looks like a remake of the cancelled dust hill zone from sonic 2, and the spaghetti western music is awesome.

3: 54 Were those suppose to be Ring Stages? Are the Chaos Emeralds will make its comeback in Sonic Mania?
reply

This is just right. everything about this is perfectly nostalgic, despite being a completely new stage.
