Justin and Griffin share their thoughts on The Division after two straight days of murdering men who were just looking in some boxes Ive played it on PC for about 25 hours now. I like it a lot. For me the shooting feels good, and I enjoy doing the missions (despite them being generic, I like the real world themes they use, the game looks great, the minor weather changes and day night cycle adds some interesting variance to the locales and combat (sometimes it can be hard to see because you get caught by a blizzard for example, I like finding clothes which serve no purpose but is the only real distinction you have from other players (as there is actually very few options for character creation.
I dont know. Some people are finding it hard to believe because at its root the game is a multiplayer game with MMO elements that they dont like, but its still fun to play for whatever reason. Probably like Destiny (I dont know I never played that but I heard similar for that.
Edit: To their point about the AI, I agree it can be impressive, but in prolonged battles it goes bonkers and starts making dumb decisions. Youll often have enemies with the larger health bars just run right into your face despite being a ranged enemy just because it knows it can kill you in two hits. Not because its actually a logical thing for someone in that situation to do if this were the real world. I guess mainly the real world setting makes some actions like that, among other things (the bullet spongey nature of it is another example, just not make sense.\r\n

I hear complaints of TTK in the same sentence as -the best strategy is often to sit back and snipe from a distance-. These reviews also say it is an RPG, yet seem to refuse to explore RPG roles of DD, TANK, HEALER, MAGE. I think it is unfair to complain about TTK when all the footage I watch is everyone in 10 meter radius playing whack a mole with a guy 50M away. Can it be a sound strategy? Sure. because NPC's will eventually reveal themselves to you, but you risk it at your own increase of TTK. playing it safe without exploring squad roles and flank tactics is the players choice, and the punishment is increased TTK, and boring footage. That isn't the game's fault, it is the result of poor role play.
I have heard nothing about
- special ammo use against elites
- suppression and fear mechanics that rewards you with time to flank
- when you rush a sniper, it forces him to switch to pistol and flee
- buffing your immunity via consumables and armor types to take on flame throwers with minimal damage
- suppression and loud vent mods for threat detection
- use of proper grenade type to obliterate bolters and melees
- Blocking a choke point with mobile cover, forcing AI to group for better chance to increase status effects and AOE
- Skill mods, and how they change the roles of the player and outcome of the situation
you are still my favorite brothers.

A horrible review really. saying that the bosses and such shouldn't be bullet sponges. CAUSE YOU WANT TO GO IN AND 2 HIT A BOSS? Right now rolling with a friend who does 200k dmg. he literally can slice thru most challenge mode guys like a hot knife thru butter. We spend maybe 45-60 minutes in a challenge mode. its punishing because you need strategy. something you guys even said there is no place for. umm. if me and another guy cover fire on snipers on the ledge supressing them. while 2 other guys run ain and take out the others. while I simultaneously flashbang sticky bomb. scan. and heal. while STILL keeping cover fire going. umm. is that strategy? or. me taking a shit? cause it really sounds like the reviewers. missed the point of the game.

it just seems really bland and the ui looks really cluttered and obnoxious. like i'm sure it's fun to some degree, but there's such a detachment between the gameplay and the tone/setting and it kind of just looks like a mess. yet i keep hearing people say good things about it.
although the dark zone sounds incredibly fun and might be the one thing that pulls me into playing this game. i did buy it (tried to pre-order so i could try the beta, but apparently PSN decided to charge me up front as it doesn't normally do so i'm basically stuck with it because it's the digital version; might easily be my fault but i still want to blame everybody else because whatever) so i might as well give it a shot.

You know, they've been hyping this up as the Destiny killer for a few months now and I can totally understand that, but as a guy who plays that religiously the gameplay footage for this doesn't really do it for me-- partially because I've grown accustomed to first-person when shooters are concerned, but also because of that whole artificial difficulty thing you guys mentioned (you seem to die a lot and the enemies take too long to go down even if you're more than capable of fighting them based on level.
Great video though!

I've said this elsewhere, but because the video starts on it, I really hope that between this and Fallout 4 the in-gameplay -look in a mirror and customize your character- thing doesn't become the ubiquitous character generation thing, it was a mildly cute gimick at very first but it totally kills immersion right in the initial moments of play, when I want to be inhabiting my character most of all.

I think the game is very good overall. Currently level 13 and having a blast. I agree with the brothers' concerns but none of their gripes really effect gameplay in a meaningful way to me so far. Bottom line is if you have some buddies to play with this is an awesome co-op rpg. Oh and also only play the missions on the hard difficulty. It provides the most challenge and fun for a group of 4.

They make a great point about how the bullet some enemies pretty much ruin any point to flanking enemies. If it's always more beneficial to stay behind cover and fire away, gameplay suffers. I think they're way too complimentary about the AI as well, I'm seeing way too many hordes of grunts running straight into bullet fire without reacting. The game just doesn't have fun gunplay

To sum it up - the gameplay is shallow, leaves little room for skills and tactics. Casual, not well thought through gameplay, artificial difficulty and length. Typical Ubisoft game. Bad story. Next.

3rd person mmo console cover shooter in lame real setting? no thx. If they would have released Destiny for PC i would have bought it but The Division looks like a nothing special game.
