We played Drool's psychedelic rhythm violence-game Thumper on PlayStation VR, and lived to tell about it. Read more One of the hints that game developers are not yet up to the task of creating VR games is the fact that they added a two number HUD instead of doing something cooler with in-world huds, like making the ship-thing show the same information on its surface.\r\n

How do you play this game? What's the mechanics? Seems like it can get a little tiring if it's like that all the time but even though it is great to showcase VR. I wonder if you can change viewpoint so you are not always seeing from a behind-view?

Internet gonna hate it - no astonishing 3D graphics, no amazing ultra secret game. Just some old fashioned thing which looks like an indie game from 2008.
Seriously I like it - even though I don't think it is the best choice to show off VR.

Wow, just, wow. Looks so cool. I was totally hypnotized by the sounds and visuals. If I'm gonna play this, it might be overwhelming - in a good way. Audiosurf feels so old now, if it's even comparable, but this just reminded me of it.

Game looks cool. but really what is the point of VR with this game? you're only supposed to stare ahead of you. kind of pointless if you ask me. Hopefully the games we get will actually use the VR instead of just having us stare ahead.

i dont get what make this experience so awesome. It looklike average at best. i've got the psvr but still have no idea why i should get the game. It looklike it could be played without the headset and ill be getting the same experience.

so distracting and hard to see when you move your head around
stop looking around you and keep your eyes on what's going on. with how fast paced a game it is idk why you were looking around

The reaction of the earlier version is a lot more instantaneous. Its interesting to see how far they came adding those sudden shifts in sound and movements in the finished product

crap music and what are direction. just follow the beats not. much thinking there. proves that this is not vr but a head mounted screen to enjoy your ps4 games in private
reply

Keep your eyes up, face forward. You lose track of what's going on, you take yourself out of the flow, and it's distracting when trying to watch you play.

This looks very cool, but stop fiddling with the f'n cord! lol
Looks really intense, and like the kind of game where you'd totally get in the zone.

Caught this at GDC as well. The VR aspect doesn't do anything for gameplay, but MANNNNN does it look good with that headset on. Definitely immersive.

The soundtrack to this game is insane, not to mention the amazing art direction. This is gonna be a must buy for me. VR or otherwise.

I got the vr for Christmas and I played this, it's awesome, it made me feel kinda sick but the vr is an amazing experience

Not really into rythm games. This has a really interesting look, though, but i don't think that alone will make me play it

I played this at PSX for almost an hour but didn't realize you could buffer your inputs lol. Couldn't beat the boss.

I already knew that Nick would be playing before even watching the video. He talks about this game on twitter so much.

I played the Switch version but the music here seems a bit different. is it different in teh PS VR version of the game?
reply

This should be pants but in VR and with 3D headset for immersive sound to match the visuals it's very addictive

No point in looking around. Such a shame it's not using VRs potential. I love the sick design though.
