PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds: Tips to Survive and Win

Jake Lear is Vox Media's resident expert at PUBG. He gives Vox Media's resident terrible PUBG player, Russ Frushtick, some tips on how to make it to the end of the game I have no idea how he stayed so calm at the end there. The best I've ever got was 9th and I was a jumpy wreck by the end - every waving leaf would have me nearly emptying a clip into it.

How to win, according to this video:
- Drop in a low-traffic, low-loot area
- Get very lucky with loot and score an 8x on a sniper (despite being in a low traffic area)
- Be in the middle of the circle without moving for 80% of the match
I'm not saying the guy wasn't skilled or that he didn't have pretty good instincts, but I feel this is a bad example of how to play the game well. They just got very lucky many many times, so they weren't really forced to make the tough, tactical decisions that separate good players from great ones. Still a tense and fun to watch final 5 minutes, though.

Kinda sad this doesn't mention more about, like, finding good equipment? I guess y'all just took the lucky cut where a win happened, but on top of good circle stuff, that was an incredible amount of gear to leave your drop area with.
Within the first set of houses, you were kitted with armor/helmet, backpack, and a scope (and suppressor/hider) on an SKS, a gun so good I've never once even seen it spawn anywhere.

Russ, you've probably been told this a lot in the comments but pressing F to pick up all your loot is pretty slow. Opening your inventory and dragging the items on the ground into your bag is much faster and you don't have to wait through the pickup animation every time.

this was so rad. i am Russ anytime i play a game online w/ friendly strangers (i. e. every time i played The Division. everyone is always better than me and i'm just trying to stay out of their way and capitalize on their success. i'm ashamed of myself.

I definitely wouldn't trade Awful Squad for this, but it's a nice change of pace.
I also like how in for the For Real video where Team Polygon wins, Russ still has his classic grenade problems

holy wow that was really awesome! this was the first one of these that i've watched where someone won and man was that intense! hopes are high for the awful squad B)

Yup, that's about right.

Okay this was intense and cool I guess, but I still prefer awful squad. The bickering the shouting the goofs, nothing can compare.

The first aid on the ground thing is a high level bait. I often drop one off on the bottom floor to make people feel safe.

Ha, I think this is the first time I've seen an edited video of this game instead of a stream. It feels so off.
