It's XCOM for Mario. Check out 25 minutes of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle gameplay with no commentary. Watch ALL of our E3 2017 content Okay so you know when the rabbids send mario in the air? Itd be cool that if there just so happened to be an enemy right where you were about to land and you landed on him then you would do massive damage. Cause you know Mario jumps on ppls heads.
Anyway I dont really know XCOM. I know Fire Emblem and Ive sen some other anime strategy games but Ive never really played them. I guess its fun. But you know what woulda been cool. If this were an action rpg. But its very simple. So basically Mario + exp bar. Like um you run around like normal in this game but you know you can jump on enemys heads and then theyd lose hp kinda like in Marios games. And the higher lvl you are the easier it is to kill them. So itd basically be like isometric Mario 1. But with an exp bar. But this is cool, too.
Also there something else. So Marios got this gun thing. I kinda wish they took a page out of Sonic Forces book and did a thing where your gun is powered by the power-ups in Marios world. Kinda like how in SF different wisps make your gun do different things. So basically if I want a flamethrower Im gonna need a fire flower to use it. Or if I wanna fire lazers I need the thunderbolt from Mario Kart. Something like that. I dunno if the game is like that but anyways cool game.
Yeah this was one of those games thats just. weird. Like not bad weird or good weird. Its just. weird. I dunno what to think of this.\r\n

The gameplay looks genuinely really fun, but the sound design is uninspired at best, and grating at worst, and the Rabbids are unbelievably irritating and unfunny to me. I'm glad this video exists, because when it was revealed I thought I might play it, and just avoid using the Rabbids when possible, but after watching only 25 minutes of it, I already completely can't stand it, so I can just not buy it, and save myself the hour of playing followed by the days of resentment and buyer's remorse.

Looks very cute and very fun. I like that the RNG here is reduced to a pretty simple ternary system- An attack in the open hits, an attack in half cover has a 50% chance to hit, and an attack in full cover does not hit. But then to make things a bit more complex, when your attack doesn't make contact you still damage the cover. It's a lot more fast-paced compared to X-COM.

I love it that Kirkhope started his career programming the soundtrack for Donkey Kong Land 2, then went on to do Banjo-Kazooie and GoldenEye, and now he's back in the Nintendo family again. It's like he's come full-circle; Working with a side character like Diddy Kong, doing platformers heavily inspired by Mario, and now an actual Mario game.

nice world and aesthetics, animation is super nice and bouncy. i dont like the rabbids especially peach rabbid god Why. the sound design isnt very nice to me, the sound effects are bleak and music is not very impressionable like other mario games (idk if this actually counts as a mario game tho) and i love beep-o

Why is Nintendo constantly and outright copying Playtonic and old Rare? Putting eyes on Marios hat. Him transforming into objects. Hiring Grant Kirkhope for music. Text dialog boxes with weird noises. Naming their minions Beep-O? Just buy them out already and have them develop it

Wow the games overworld has alot of depth to it, both models and textures look amazing, and it has some good strong shadows to it. The motion blur is always something good to look at during battle and the gameplay is soild. Definitely a day one buy!

This just doesn't look that interesting. I like Mario and I like the Rabbids, but I just don't see the appeal of this. And why the XCOM style gameplay? For something like Mario and Rabbids you think they would have done something different.

Combining these IPs is just. a really strange move, but honestly this game looks really cool and well thought-out gameplay-wise. Not my cup of tea personally, but it's really fun to watch others play it.

Ubisoft: -Hey guys remember how popular XCOM was? -
Nintendo -Not very? -
Ubisoft: -Exactly, now add Mario AND WAIT FOR IT, the rabbids-
Nintendo: -Wut? -

reply

If for some reason you still hate this game, just remember, the ONLY enemies in this game are rabbids. That means it's nothing but glorious rabbid destruction.

I think the whole following a roomba thing is kinda dumb, most every JRPG has you control the person you put first in line in your party, in this case Mario.

Is this really at 60 FPS! I could of sworn it was 30 at E3! Unless they updated it? If so that's amazing! I love Nintendo's commitment to high frame rate.

Aha! So YOU'RE the other half of the fabled duo, MARIO and. and.
Louis?
Lyle?
Llewellyn?
Er. well. all the same, welcome!

Pretty sure this game would've been a 10/10 and system seller if it was just Mario, Luigi, Peach vs Koopa's and Bowser. Now it's kind of Meh

I just don't understand who this game is for. It's not even like it looks bad or anything, I just don't get how Mario + Rabbids = XCOM.
reply

When I got my Nintendo Switch, I was considering buying Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle thinking it was a 3rd person shooter.
reply

People are taking this WAY too seriously, which is CLEARLY the exact opposite of the intention for this game.
reply

Why so much hate for the Rabbids? I think they're cute. I'd get rid of Mario before I'd get rid of the bunnies.
reply

Does anyone else see that the Rabbids in this game seem to be less annoying than how they're usually portrayed?
