If it's not like the other Fallout games it shouldn't be considered like the other Fallout games LOL it's simply not. fall out has never been a multiplayer game. I'm 100% not going to jump on the multiplayer garbage. I don't want to be playing some game having to depend on some complete stranger to do something and or don't want to be playing online while some Harry naked dude is sitting in his recliner doing who-knows-what or a female for that matter. I mean really you don't know the people you're playing with and you could be playing with some child molester for all you know. I'm sure there's some really nice people out there but I have a deep disdain for multiplayer games because it requires for me to have to be interacting with another person when I do not want to lol (multiplayer) since games have ever been made (multiplayer) was a side note you know? you would have the game and then it would have a multiplayer option and then they start making these games that are multiplayer only which completely alienate people like myself. I'm sorry I don't want to play a game with you. I want to play a game by myself. I read what the people that made Metro were saying and they're definitely keeping multiplayer on the side note and I'm extremely thankful for that. I wish the people that make the next Fallout would make Fallout 5 just anything that is single player story/campaign with a (multiplayer) option.

Todd saying -dont worry its only dozens of other players on ur servers! - As if games along the lines of gta dont hav that exact formula and can still be absolute hell even with a small player base per server
Actually the more i hear abt it the more it sounds like its going to follow gta online in many ways. Id be surprised if it was much different in terms of base mechanics. Optional multiplayer/pvp mini quests with story missions for solo play and (HOPEFULLY) some sort of passive mode to eradicate trolls from ur experience
I just fear it wont Feel lile a fallout game. I dont want fast paced pvp in the wasteland. I want to ainlessly walk around and read every terminal and look for too log at every poster and asset to immerse myself. But i guess the market is changing and i gotta suck it up but im still salty

I really think bethesda will have a back up plan with npcs', especially if they find people not taking to the multiplayer and wanting to go solo. The way todd was speaking it sounds like a miniscale fallout version of ESO, with long term plans, updates and DLC / add -ons, a way of (hopefully) keeping fallout fans happy until fallout 5. Betesda have admitted this is an experiment, something they wanted to try, but are nervous it won't work (hence the Beta. They will monitor the shit out of this game and if there are enough cries of better single player, or a lack of sales due to multiplayer, then I think it will be a quick fix to add Npc's.

I just watched another video with an interview with Todd Howard where he confirmed that there will be private servers, and even mods for private servers, but that those will come at a later date and will not be available at launch. He also confirmed no NPCs, which wasn't explicitly said as such during the conference iirc, just inferred from -everyone out here is a real person-. He also mentioned that they have some sort of a system in place to mitigate griefing and ensure that any griefing that does happen doesn't effect the victim much, if youre not interested in PVP, but he didnt say specifically what any of it was.

for the guys speaking of npc, remember there is super mutant(which some are friendly in other fallout game, there is robot and ghouls(so maybe there is like other fallout game not any mad ghouls as it is in the quit beginning of the world there should be some sane ghouls) but with the trailers it weird they didn't show anything about that so maybe they didn't care. really want to see what happen with the story and how they gonna make it. maybe in the future fallout game will only have a coop features like everyone want(of course if mods are allowed in the process cause if mods are not screw my friend)

I'm still uncertain if solo play is a legit option. Yes you can log in without a group, but what if you're then set upon by a bunch of other players who want to pvp and grief you for hours? I'm fine exploring a world on my own with no NPCs. Honestly that sort of Omega-Person gameplay really sounds kinda neat. But if by -solo play- they mean -you can go it alone on a server with dozens of other randoms who could run over and bother you at any moment- this game is probably not for me. (Which is fine, but a shame as like I said the Omega-Person idea is super appealing. )

no npcs i am ok with that mostly because i have friends to play with but if they are not available i am ok to wonder by myself killing and looting every living thing i come across including other players who are not willing to submit to my requests of giving me all their caps or get shot in the face by my shoulder mounted mini nuke launcher i found in some cave that was full of rodents of unusual size also at least there will be no more settlements that need my help

With no NPCs and Todd-s focus on emergent gameplay it-s looking like this will be a story-free experience. Will we get any lore with this game? Sitting around and reading doesn-t feel like it suits an unpausable survival game. Still, I love open worlds, when it goes on sale for 10 bucks (I-m putting a hard 20 dollar limit on what I-m willing to pay for this) I-ll buy it to walk around but it doesn-t sound like something you really play.

Like what's even the point of solo questing if you don't even have NPCs? The only quests I can see being made with literally no characters is generic get x or do y.
Like at this point I think I would have prefered a MMO since those atleast have characters. I can't stand MMOs but I still had a decent time soloing the knights of the old republic story content because it still had a lot of the elements of the RPGs.

Raids are the worst part of MMO games. Well, beside other people. So. that's all there is. It's like any other PvP game. Do something. Get wrecked by someone who commits more time (and guessing micro transaction money. Regret. This is the PvP cycle since PvP.
I know, I know. Git gud. I got a job, though. Damn.

The truth is you can play fallout 76 alone.
Sorry scratch that,
You can -TRY- to play fallout 76 alone, but you probably will get killed in a unexpected and spectacular. way! Like getting nuked out of nowhere! Or shot from some camping boi in a bush with way more powerful sh-t than you!

-polygon Did you even watch the press conference? He said everyone from the vault is a player. No every single character. Also said there are quest and a story line to follow. Story being this -reclamation day- deal, I-m sure they-ll build on it later.

-Softcore survival- which is funny, Toddy, considering people were pissed when Fallout 4 didn't ship with a Hardcore Survival mode. And also less RPG stats. So. -Softcore- and Online. two things people didn't want from a Fallout game. Congrats Bethesda.

-You can play solo- meaning: you can choose not to be in a squad of up to four, but still have to deal with other players? Or are there no other players at all? Is it too much to ask to have private groups like Elite or The Division?

tbh after hearing that there are no NPCs and its always online, the only reason I would play this game is if it had at least one reference to the Mcelroy brothers. West Virginia is their home state after all.

If the multiplayer lets you choose who to play with, this isn-t so much a fallout game as it is a (not terribly complete) toolkit for constructing a fallout game. If it doesn-t, it-s just a bad idea all around,

Either way for me, I'm waiting until it releases to see if I will get this or not. I want to see how all the mechanics work together. I was going to preorder to get the beta, but I still rather wait.

Let-s be real, though, -every character is playable- sounded like an amazing game for two seconds until he let it drop that that didn-t mean you could play any and all of 500 unique characters.

I will withhold judgement for now because it seems interesting and fitting that the world be 'empty' since they're one of the first vaults to emerge but I dunno if I'm willing to preorder it -

Fallout 76 is not s single player game and that-s okay, but Todd Howard needs to stop downplaying it.
Fallout 76 is an FFA-PvP game, you cannot turn off PvP, that much is clear in interviews.

Damn. I guess I-ll buy fallout 4 vr and wait another 3 years for Bethesda to learn the hard way. Why are big companies making sh-t decisions lately? It seems to be the trend. DisneyEA

No way I wanna play this. How can there be a story line if there's no NPC's! I think they borrowed the monsters from Doom and Dragon slayer. No thanks I'll stick to Fallout 4.

So far just sounds like a lame mini-game/side mode. This gameplay is gonna be really shallow, and have very little re-playability even a year down the road.

Fallout 76 has lost the game dynamics of Fallout 4 which attracted so many people. In my view it is another MMO and I have the feeling is not going to go to far.

So. No NPCs in solo play, and it looks pretty much exactly like Fallout 4, especially the weapons. Wow. Fallout 4 with no NPCs pretty much. Disgusting.
