My best friend in college ('99) was ahead of his time. He loved wrestling games, but he wanted a wrestling game where after the match, you leave the arena and maybe go grocery shopping for your family. Maybe you body slam the checkout clerk; or jump off the top shelf and slam a guy that you think has been getting cozy with your wife, and a whole nother story tree could open there.
He basically had an open world top-down 2D/3D world from a pro wrestler's perspective, where wrestling could be used at any time. I'd like to play this game.

Big like from me for not one but two Scott Hall references in this one. Always said he-s the total package. From look (stubble and spit curl) to entrance (surf walk) to ring walk to entering the ring (wiping the feet) to taunts (toothpick and spooky fingers) to moves (paintbrush the hair, discus punch) to finisher (The aforementioned Razors Edge) and finishing taunt (Razor Rumba) EVERYTHING is an anticipated foreshadowing of what-s about to happen. The Rock learned a lot from watching him true but Hall is the OG.

I doubt the guys in Double Dragon are wrestlers. Or rather, that they're based on Pro Wrestlers. DD was basically an unofficial Hokuto No Ken/Fist of the North Star game. And then there's Sumo Wrestlers as well.
The idea of a big strong person being able to toss things/people effortlessly is something far, far older than Ric Flair.

I wish there was some more modern reprisentation of wrestling in video games. Seems like you never see anything after the time period the Attitude Era was going on. Even Japanese Wrestling Inspired characters don't seem to remember anything after the second Tiger Mask.

10: 20 Since I'm a big No More Heroes fan, I knew Suda51 was a big pro wrestling fan, but I'd never played Michigan: Report From Hell, so I didn't know that.
So then I had to edit the TVTropes triva page for Michigan, to cover every character I could find.
