oh wow, broke through the cranium caramel with this one, lots of those songs are very familiar, a club in Tucson had a DJ that loved little known music in the US, so a lot of these eletronica and danse bands are rolling around the memory cells, now I need to look them up and add them to my MEGAHyDRA playlist. Thanks for this. and the caramel closes.

It seemed so weird at the time, but now virtually all of the modern music I listen to now isn't in English. Japan and Korea, while known for their overproduced poppy stuff, actually have some great rock/metal/punk going on too.

I was listening to European and Latin American 1980s and 1990s pop song.
It's not about language. It's about melody songs. They are the best singers where the world only recognizes US and UK singers and bands.

This is cool. I like being introduced to various non-English music, there's some neat stuff here.
One artist I think is missing is Spanish singer Jeanette who had a few hits in 1981.

This reminded me how in Mexico in the 80s a lot of singers sang spanish covers of a lot of italian songs when the original italian singers didn't make a spanish version.

LOL! This is the worst list ever! There are thousands of great non English songs. This list seems to be picked by some deaf person.

Pretty good list! I would have loved to see Lene Lovitch with Little bird and Nina Hagen but still a great selection, thank you!

I'm Irish and when I here Begin The Beguine by Julio Iglesias I think I'm on a beach in Spain in the early 80s.

Nino de Angelo et Daniel Balavoine are the best of the bunch, perhaps Falco too AND Umberto Tozzi!
Merci!

Quite a few, of these songs, have been transformed into English version hits and / or have been sampled.
