Little Pink Blob Grows Up To Be Cute And Wild Little But Fierce As cute as they are, please remember that squirrels are rodents and are not far removed from rats. While squirrels dont typically dig through human garbage the way that rats do, they are not much cleaner than rats. In fact the majority of cases of bubonic plague in North America come from diseased squirrels. On top of their pathogenic risk factor, they can be extremely destructive to gardens and landscapes, as well as aggressive towards songbirds and other small wildlife.
The population of urban squirrels is already far too high. With few natural predators to keep their population in check, and with kindhearted people feeding them, they have become not only a nuisance in many areas but constitute a real risk for the spread of disease.

We found a baby squirrel in a pharmacy parking lot. Brought her deep into local park to bring her somewhere safe. She followed us all the way back to the car and climbed up our legs. What could we do besides take her home. We had a garage so we kept her there, she would visit our back door every day for peanuts. Eventually the neighbors starting feeding her too. She had about 5-6 different litters of baby squirrels in that garage. They all did well and lived. One day she stopped coming around, so we assumed she passed on. She lived a good squirrel for about 5-6 years and had just as many litters of squirrels.

Good karma comes your way! bling bling! We rescued two brothers when sister found them minus a mom. We had them a year or so, then mom adapted them to a tree and they took off. We saw them a few times, they still hung together always, then they must have found females and never came back. They were a stitch for sure, so playful and confident. A great learning experience for us for sure.

Saved two of these great little ones in my life. They are so much fun and can definitely be released eventually (if provided transition food/housing) and will often stay around for life. Males may travel but females in nature stay with their moms. And we humans become mom when we rescue. One of the best experiences of my life

I one time at work knocked my own tooth out trying to rescue a baby squirrel while his mom was going crazy. I had to climb up on a fence hold on and try to figure a way to get him back to the nest. Lola tooth and about 25 minutes later I got him back. Was working at a State Hospital and the clients loved the show lol

I feed the neighborhood squirrels, too. Each year I have 2-3 families in my huge pecan tree. Those little things have given me uncountable hours of joy and entertainment over the past 20 years. Some get names because they have such big personalities or they've survived predator attacks.

I mean we ourselves belong to the great apes family of the animal kingdom, seeing a living being show love and compassion to another living being is the true essence and the great barrier to our own species evolving to our next step.

Raised baby sparrow. Tought her everything she needed to know.
The day she left was one tree at time, followed her for a couple of hours. She would answer back but wouldn't come back.
