In each stage of complete metamorphosis, the animal looks different than at all other stages. This is different from incomplete metamorphosis where the early stages of development look like tiny versions of the adult. Butterflies are an example of an insect that goes through all the stages of complete metamorphosis.
Complete metamorphosis begins with the insect hatching from an egg into a soft worm-like shape called a larva. Larvae have a very big appetite and can eat several times their own body weight every day. If humans did the same thing, babies would start out eating as much as 10 pounds of food each day. For insects, this super-sized larva diet makes them grow very fast.

i have one in my room for about a month now. first time I spotted it was on the lampshade. later i saw it by the window in multiple places, where it's stayed for most of the time. I thought it wanted to escape as I'd see it often on the glass but it never did and I open the window every day. so I assume it's escaping the cold and wants to hibernate, although I've only seen it in the same spot for a few days - it eventually appears elsewhere and it's generally with its belly up

I'm completely horrified knowing that I'm my youth that I killed ladybugs in their young stages because I had no idea what kind of bug they were. I thought they were pests or that they bite or were poisonous. I feel like a monster and I regret everything. RIP to the younglings that ever came into contact with me. I'm so sorry.

It’s getting cold around this time of year (late Nov 2023) and I got 2 ladybugs living in my bathroom and whenever I shower they come out to hang. My cats just watch them walk on the walls. Gotta end up naming them they’ve been here so long

I never harm any ladybird despite I am (literally) having a few tens of them hibernating at cracks of my windows. They are sluggish, chicken, yet lovely. I feel privileged to be able to provide them a shelter during winter.

I adore ladybug larvae! Lots of people are saying they're gross, but I used to play with them when I was a kid. I had no idea what they were until I got a bit older, but I thought they were just the cutest things.

During school result we used to kept them on our fingers and we keep on saying FAIL & PASS if it fly on calling pass then we consider us to be pass otherwise fail
