Anyway, I’d already been feeding the cat for months leading up to that but as it turned out I was over feeding her the whole time. She’s a rather tall and long cat so I didn’t really piece it together until I started to hear a firm thump whenever she’d jump down from the arm of the sofa
Turns out that she should weigh anywhere from 12-13 lbs and she clocked in at 17. 6 also whenever she’d prop up to groom her belly, she had the sitting walrus look to her
I think she’s down to about 15 lbs as she doesn’t thud anymore and she’s definitely lighter when I pick her up, but I think I’m still giving her a little too much food (and she’s an expert at manipulation when she wants a little snack) but I’m still aiming to get her to 13-14 lbs and then see what the vet says and how she looks/feels
I don’t know if 10-11 lbs is too lite for her because she is a taller/longer cat than most I’ve had, but seeing that 17 was a wake-up call. The cat doesn’t know better or understand, but I do

What an absolute HERO this woman is! I've never seen a daschhund in such terrible shape, it brike my heart She did a STELLAR job! What empathy and faith, what dedication! I didn't think I'd see such a healthylooking dachshund at the end of this! Amazing! I'm so sad this dog wasn't rehomed before it went this far. Pure luck the right person saw him, or he'd have been dead in no time at all. I'm very surprized his heart and spine didn't give in. Please people, be aware of the animals in your family, at work, in your neighborhood who start showing signs of mistreatment. It's unacceptible for an animal to go mistreated for this long. That obesity didn't happen over night. Animal and child welfare is everyones business in a western democracy.

This video made me cry for this poor dachshund. What a miserable life he had until he was helped to get to a normal weight. They will eat as much as you give them so it’s so important to monitor what and how much they eat. True of any breed.

Appalling! How could the owners allow this to happen They should be ashamed of themselves! YOU control how much your dog gets fed daily. Glad the dog is OK now.

I've got a dachshund, and you really need to keep on top of their weight because their poor backs really can't take a lot of weight
