I live in south of Brazil and the heavy rains over here flooded the entire state (the state is the size of Italy and the whole disaster is worse than Katrina and the death toll is on the rise and it will get worse after the water level drops) and everybody should know what's going on over here. There are thousands of people working non-stop and around the clock rescuing humans and animals (from dogs/cats to pigs, horses, chickens and so on) and we're getting donations from all over the country and over the world. There's one rescuer you should feature, she's Deise Falci and she's been rescuing animals with a small motorboat with lots of volunteers and lots of others are making this huge effort to rescue animals even with firemen discouraging the rescue of pets.

And I thought Snake Discovery's Ally was the cutest tegu. BOY this proved me wrong! It's also not helping my very real desire to give one of these adorable guys a home one day when I can. Even with the difficult husbandry and work it requires, seeing this Yeah, 100% worth it. Be sure to do your research before you get an exotic pet though! It is NOT easy. And you owe it to them to give them the best life possible.

He's a beautiful boy. So glad you took him & looked after him. I live in Australia, and have a sweet little blue tongued lizard living in my backyard. He has been there for around 3-5 years. I occasionally see his little head pop up from a blocked off drain. Have also seen him in the grass. He is the cutest guy. I have never managed to touch him. He hisses if I get too close. So I just let him be.

They ARE smart animals! In the wild they travel a territory for food and study everything. I saw a documentary about Galapagos land iguanas and a resident who had about a dozen regular visitor lizards and she had given each one a name. THEY ALL knew their name and would come individually when called for a treat. elsullo

He's so beautiful. I grew up on a farm in Canada and would rescue salamanders I found in the cellar of our old farmhouse. I've never had a lizard but I love all animals (a little wary of snakes though) and I've always like to watch people with their lizards.

I believe they love to be brushed! Their scales need invigoration. I You're doing such a great thing by caring for him. I've seen turtles and alligators run up to their auto-rotating brush so they can scratch their heads and backs with it.

The older I get, the more misanthropic I am becoming. But when one is surrounded by human insanity, is it any wonder that so many of us turn to our animals for love, peace and well-being I wish Jake and Blue many more years of happiness.

If you told someone you had a pet and his name was Blue, they would probably picture a HOUND DOG in their mind. Imagine their reaction when a giant lizard approached them and was as just as affectionate as any dog!

Pets are so lively and good acquaint. Watching this reminds me of my pet Ricky ( blessed memory). Who I died because of my lack to care and to be available due to the nature of my then job. I miss you Ricky

I applaud the rescue, but these animals were never meant to be domesticated. It's cruel and unnatural. The exotic animal trade is a barbaric industry. Never buy any animals!

Blue is so affectionate and loving. The extra care he needs or wants is worth it. Reminds me of my 14 year old Bearded Dragon, that passed away snuggled into my neck

What a beautiful animal! I never had a lizard but my brother had a chameleon, Greeny. He was an outgoing little guy. He wasn’t the kind with the big rolling eyes.
