This is how your favorite cartoon characters would look like in real life. Along with some of the best actors, The Secret Life of Pets has some of the best characters we have ever seen. Max, Duke, Snowball, Gidget, Chloe, Buddy, Norman, Tattoo, and many more pets decided to show us their secret life when their owners arent home. Wait until you see what these Secret Life of Pets characters would look like in real life! Max is a Jack Russell terrier who loves his owner and has to get used to the new arrival to the household, Duke. Max is excitable and a loyal pet, just like most dogs are, and we absolutely adore him. As the movie begins, Duke and Max arent getting along. Duke, as the new arrival, has a hard time trusting others. Hes a big, brown, longhaired Mutt, and we managed to find his reallife version! You know what they say: good things come in small packages. But those small packages are sometimes incredibly mean. Meet Snowball, one of the main antagonists of the story. Hes a rabbit that wants to rule the world with his crew of abandoned pets. Wait until you see what a reallife version of him looks like! Speaking of good things coming in small packages, another incredibly cute, but slightly nicer character is Gidget. Shes Maxs significant other, but shes also one of the strongest Pomeranians you have ever seen. Heres all you should know about Gidget shes 50% fluff and 100% tough. Whos your favorite character from The Secret Life of Pets? Is it Max, Duke, Snowball, Gidget, Chloe, Buddy, Norman or Tattoo? Make sure you check out our video to see what these characters would look like in real life!

This is for any and all confused on what breed Duke is:
He is, without a doubt, a Newfoundland Dog. While some claim he is a Briard or Tibetan Mastiff, his markings, structure, and overall appearance don't add up. If you look up a Newfoundland, though, he is a dead-ringer. With the long fur, large body, stocky build, solid brown coat, big nose, and brown eyes, there leaves no doubt on it being a Newf. I believe he is called a mutt because he was rescued -- this does not mean he is not a purebred Newf; there have been quite a few cases where Newfoundlands are rescued/found abandoned, typically due to their massive size. While Duke himself got lost, that is a thing I wanted to note.
Another thing is that he has some of the base attributes of a Newfoundland. He is energetic, loving, excitable, and stubborn. While the aggressiveness and hostility don't match a typical Newf, I think they should be disregarded in this case -- Duke had a rough past, and this can cause temperaments to change. In reality, a Newf probably would be all love and cuddles, but this is also a movie/cartoon, so they'll change some things that normally wouldn't occur (you can see instances with other breeds/animals not being true to their nature throughout the film on your own.
All-in-all, Duke is indeed a Newfoundland. A Briard is too lithe, with too-long of a tail and muzzle. A Tibetan Mastiff has too much fur with too much density, and certainly doesn't match up marking-wise. A Newfiepoo, while a good guess, is too lithe as well, with too-wavy fur. This leads the only option being a Newfoundland. I believe the only reason that people don't think it is a Newf is because it's a drastically lesser-known breed; paired with the aforementioned out-of-character hostility and aggression Duke first portrays, most who suspect Newfoundland origin are typically deterred.
I can say, though, with 100% certainty that he is a Newf. I've been around them all my life, and actually just had the chance to go to the national Newfie Club meeting in Michigan.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk on correct breed association with Duke.
