This Is What Is REALLY In Military Food. Its probably safe to assume that most people have a vague idea of what soldiers out in the field are eating. You probably know they eat what are called Meals ReadytoEat, or MREs for short. But have you ever wondered what exactly is inside those small brown packages? How on Earth can a meal fit in that small pouch? And does the food even taste good? People in the army who are working out in the field obviously dont have access to kitchens, so the US military devised a meal program that was efficient and easy to use while still providing basic nutritional needs to its soldiers. The history of the MRE stretches all the way back to the Civil War, but todays rations are much different than they were over a century ago. Are you curious about the menu that soldiers can choose from and what their meals provide nutritionally? Were ready to show you that and more, including how they are able to heat their meals without the use of fire and how MREs are practical not just for the military, but even for civilians in emergency or crisis situations, such as communities struck by natural disasters. Stay tuned to learn more about the amazing science behind these ration pouches, from their role in the history of the birth of America to their widespread practicality of the modern world, and how you can get your hands on an MRE to try for yourself. Have you ever tried military food before?

There is a lot of misinformation here but also a lot of good information. But the misinformation really blows the good information the hell. Stop spreading the lie that US military mre's can't be bought legally. Of course they can. And they are every day through common venues such as grocery stores Amazon an eBay. The government sells surplus MREs to the civilian market all the time. And the producers of these MREs have overruns for contracts, and those get put on the civilian market as well. Stop trying to make people who have these MREs out to be some kind of outlaw or criminal.

you didnt say anything gross about mres at all nor make any references of anything potentially gross about them.
now that that is out of the way,
if you take all the magnesium out of a mre heater, and put it in a coke bottle, than pore water into the bottle, but not too much, you can make yourself a bomb. just dont stand near it if you value having limbs.

I would say clickbaity title bc its not a gross truth. MREs are more like compact single serving portion serving of canned goods are the supermarkets, except in this case there is more salt/sodium and seasoning for the extra shelf life.

For all the civilian enthusiasts out there looking for some of the best-tasting ones, look for Chili Mac, Beef Stew, and Buffalo Chicken!

how are MREs gross again Title: The GROSS Truth Behind Military Food (MREs)
Everyone: What? How is this gross?

reply

Actually, unless the regs have changed, a US Marine is only entitled to one meal per day. More than that is a bonus.
