I love the depth spoken of these dark or realistic points in Hunchback of Notre Dame. This movie is one of my top favorites due to the dark and complex atmosphere. I love both Victor Hugo and Disney version because they do cover how humans act in reality which isn't so family friendly. Quasi is cool in my book because of his kind nature despite Frollo's teachings of intolerance & judgement of the wicked which can be a question of nature vs nurture. I figured Esmeralda would be perfect for him because of her compassion for others and talented like him. She could relate to him about being an outcast and encounter discrimination from minor to extreme measures. Phoebus was funny and open minded throughout even as a captain of the guards. Trained to follow orders yet not trained to believe in genocide. In a scene of Quasi being beaten at the Festival of Fools, Phoebes requested Frollo to stop the cruelty that was taken place. Whether or not people justify who should have ended with Esmeralda is subjective but I see good reasons to be with either one. Not the fault of Quasi if he was isolated and abused nor fault of Phoebes for being stereotypically more attractive and more experienced. Great love for the story.

Sigh, the word Gypsy has only within the last 5 to 10 years been rendered as a slur. You cant bash a movie from the 90's for not adhering to modern vernacular ethics. Also, as much as I love this movie, they missed a big opportunity to flesh out Frollo as he was in the book. They could have easily gone the downward spiral route which is how he is depicted in the original novel, as a good man who became bent out of shape by his faith and lust.

The Hunchback is now my new favorite Disney movie! They took risks and made a powerful movie about a very touchy subject. Nowadays, all they care about is money. They chant Black lives matter while thanking the Chinese government who imprisons Uighur Muslims and maybe even kills them. They make crappy live action remakes instead of giving the fans an animated movie like weve all been begging for.

I never thought of the possibility of Quasis birth parents abandoning him and that he may have been adopted by gypsies. That not only would be a great way to explain the caucasian features, but a great backstory in a sequel. I would have rather seen Quasi unexpectedly reconnect with his gypsie adoptive father, and learn about his ancestry than see him find love in a sequel written for toddlers.

It's not just that Quasimodo was deformed. Let us not forget that he never had contact with the world outside the cathedral walls. Consequently, no contact with anybody except Frollo. He was so isolated that his only friends were the gargoyles. A person like that cannot have developped a mature emotional behaviour, and least of all, get involved in a romantic relationship.

Esmeralda is a whole complete and confident woman who wasn't looking for love and loses none of her agency when she falls for Phoebus sorry. she doesn't have to fall for the Hunchback in order to prove that she's not shallow. She saw his worth as a person and was a consistent friend to him throughout the movie.

This video is garbage. Phoebus was absolutely worthy and was a complete feminist. He stood up for Esmeralda and offered her assistance more than once, starting with when they first met. he respected her saw her as an equal and was not intimidated by her beauty or her fire.

I literally fell over when I saw that the Hunchback of Norte Dame was rated G. It DEFINITELY should have been PG and even then, there is some really messed up material that in my opinion should be rated PG-13. For example, Hellfire really disturbed me.

One thing I have always found weird, was the fact that both Quasimodo his mom and his dad had a darker skin tone, but he has a white skin tone! Maybe it's just me, but I've always had this question in my head since I was a kid.

8: 23 Nooooo it was brilliant that they gave a movie that implied lust, burning innocents at the stake, and literally showed an on screen death of a young mother, was a brilliant plan. Especially with frollos love ballad. NOT
