My favorite aspect of her character is she's a very quiet and reserved character. You don't see too many characters in any form of entertainment where one of their central characteristics is they're quiet. Obviously because it's a show she speaks a lot but there are lots of moments of silence with her and characters who are quiet and reserved are often boring but she does an incredible job being incredibly charismatic. Now Anya Taylor Joy is absolutely beautiful so that helps but there are a lot of beautiful women in tv/movies who can't pull off a character who is this reserved while being riveting to watch.

Anya Taylor Joy was brilliant in The Queen's Gambit as was all her co--stars the directing, cinematography, editing, wardrobe, music score and those beautiful locations and sets were the best crafted movie ever. Anya's look, and I means those amazing eye's enhanced by make-up, were really the director's main focus used to perfection it just pulled me into the character and I lived the movie through Anya's eyes. I don't see any other actress that could be Beth Harmon truly the best movie experience I've had in years!

I also love the scene in which Jolene (Moses Ingram is perfect) says to Beth: I'm not your guardian angel, I'm not here to save you. I can barely save myself. I'm here because you need me. That's what family does. It subverts a trope about supportting characters, specially if they are black. Jolene has an arc of her own in the show. Both characters, Jolene and Beth, are equals. Both independent and strong women living their own lives.

Good analysis, but we don't know if her night with Ceo was anything more than a fully clothed Beth sobering up in the tub, and Ceo getting some sleep in the comfy bed. The way Beth looked at Ceo was not one of happy friendship but rather I wish I hadn't gone down to the bar. That said, it is not inconsistent with her character to experiment and her loneliness is always just beneath the surface.

It's essencialy the description of every male protagonist ever! Viewers finally get to see a woman protagonist done right Wow! That's it! Finally! Be welcome, Beth Harmon! It was about time! It is 2020, for God's sake! Fantastic show! Watched twice, gonna whatch it for the third time!

So weird they made a show about a board game. I wonder if Netflix will next do a limited series about Monopoly or Operation or Sorry? I guess board games aren't just for Mormon families on Monday nights.

The only reason why it is a feminist series is cuz its in the 50s-60s we really shouldnt care about gender but thats all people care about and gender had ruined captain marvel and a few other movies

Ive told myself that I would focus on school and only watch 1 hour episode series during vacation. Ended up devowering The Queens Gambit in one week!
