Did You Know Hermione Stole Ron Weasley's Lines From The Harry Potter Books? SAME! Were calling all our Potterheads for another epic Harry Potter video. Theres no doubt that the Harry Potter movies did an amazing job at translating J. K. Rowlings novels on screen, but has there ever been moments that you just felt the films could have done better? In todays video, were exploring everything that was stolen from Ron Weasley in the movie version of his character. Including his actual lines. Dont get us wrong, Rupert Grint did a phenomenal job at portraying Ron Weasley, we just wish he had the opportunity to bring to life the character we got to know and love in the novels. The truth is, a lot of Rons lines and moments were altered in order for characters like Hermione to deliver them. A lot of the time these lines made Hermiones intelligence shine which is amazing but it took away from all of Rons potential. In other situations, the movie script was written in a way that was completely opposite compared to what we read in the films. Like the fact that Ron was actually a very brave individual, or that his knowledge of the Wizarding World saved the golden trio more than once. What do you think the reason behind all of his missing lines is? Are there any moments, in particular, you would have loves to see portrayed properly in the films? They really did Ron and Rupert dirty.
The movies stripped nearly all of the beloved traits that book Ron has, having a huge heart, being the most knowledgeable out of the three about the wizarding world, his fierce loyalty and love for his friends, which is where he really shows his bravery, his sense of humour, he is a funny guy but isn't to the extent of being the joke, but in the movies he is.
They really wasted Rupert's talent too, robbing Ron of all those moments only to give them to Emma Watson (who in my opinion is very overrated, the girl acts with her eyebrows constantly which is really annoying.
Ginny was done so badly in the movies too, there was zero chemistry between Dan and Bonnie, book Ginny is an awesome character, in the movies she's a flat, boring character with nothing to offer to the plot. I still love the films but yeah they aren't as good as the books.

Taking the lines of a character and twisting the lines of the novels the films were based on is typical in the movie industry but its true that Ron should have been portrayed a bit better in the films, but then again its like in the lord of the rings trilogy - In the book, Saraman ddnt die, but in the extended version of the films, he was killed by gremor wormtongue and probably in order to make the story a little more intense on the positive side of things and perhaps put things into perspective on the evil side of the story which was based mostly on Sauron and the one ring.
But getting back to Ron, I think he was given credibility in certain areas of the film and that is much better than nothing.

That irritated me to no end. I really hated how they diminished the character of Ron in favour of Hermione or even Ginny(I hated Ginny) I've always wondered how/why JK Rowling allowed them to trash her characters & make one out to be an idiot. I hate that in the DH part 2 Hermione is telling Harry all about how he defeated the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets and that the fangs were still there - now how did she know this when she was petrified in the Hospital Wing. that is what turned me against Hermione & Harry as well as made me HATE the last 4 movies directed by David Yates & scripted by Steven Kloves.

Haaa. Movie Ron is not Ron. I got annoyed every time he was depicted as comedic relief, instead of acting the way he does in the books.
Also, let's not forget how they ruined Hermione by making her perfect. And it wasn't just Hermione that got Ron's lines; I'm pretty sure Harry got some too. I think someone else got one or two of his lines, don't remember who, as I don't watch the movies much. I prefer the books

Not only ron has line problems, draco has more lines/parts in the books and he didnt in the movies it alwyas makes me mad because he pop up whenever harry is like nervious he also know why is sirius after harry but it didnt show in the movie and that part is like big for me and make sense also in the train, and his broken hand i wish they put more scenes of him like in the books

i can undrstand ron knowing what mudblood means, his father works at the ministry, so ron probably went to work with him and heard someone (probably malfoy) use that word, then it had to be explained to him by his dad.
how hermione got that line is beyond me, she was raised by muggles, i doubt she would have a copy of Mr Macfungulus's big book of wizard swears

I saw the movies first before reading the book, but even then Ron is already my fave character. Yeah, what they made him in the movies is sad, but gonna say Rupert made the best out of it. I think his delivery of lines made me love Ron when I saw the movies. I prefer his acting among the three when they were young.

I actually di'nt like hermoine that beacauseof her attidtude for knowing almost everything. I was just so shocked. those lines could have grabbed our attention. Ron was definitely a brave boy and a true friend even without his actual lines.

You know what's the was part that all lot of people hate Ron weasley and the worst is that al lot of of dramione shippers make ron abusive boyfriend and draco the good boyfriend and erased all of the good parts in his character
reply

notice how most of the lines that were stolen by Hermione we're in the first and second movie. that's because the producer of those movies loved Hermione in the books and wanted her to shine.
