we re counting down our picks for the top 20 darkest What If moments. Beware of a multiverse of spoilers ahead. Our countdown includes moments involving Hawkeye, Star-Lord, Nebula and mre! What What If? reality would you never want to live in I quite enjoy What If? For example, it took an idea I hated (Marvel Zombies) and did a decent version of it.
One definite weakness is how badly they nerf Thanos; I understand the flow of the different story requires cuts, yet they could still do it without making the main antagonist of the Infinity Saga seem like a chump - just do a montage or even still shots.

The issue with the end of What If Season 2 is it feels rushed, with only two characters facing Strange Supreme, making it seem strange! Acknowledging that Strange Supreme needed a proper ending due to his overpowering nature, I suggest a different Episode 8 titled What If Zola Got the Infinity Ultron Armor? After Season 1 where Strange Supreme traps Zola and Killmonger in a pocket dimension, Zola eliminates Killmonger and gets the Infinity Stones but remains trapped.
Left alone, Strange Supreme's grief grows, leading him to create a device to bring Christine back. Realizing it's impossible, two personalities emerge Strange Supreme and a malevolent grief monster. In a fierce battle, Strange expels the monster, but it escapes to the multiverse with powers like Strange Supreme. Simultaneously, the pocket dimension collapses, freeing Zola, who gains powers like Infinity Ultron and similar motives.
Zola causes chaos across universes, prompting Strange Supreme to form a team Captain Carter, Kahori, Hela from Episode 7, Iron Man from the Grandmaster episode, Nebula from Episode 1, Thor from Episode 2, and Pink Hulk. Tony Stark creates a virus to stop Zola, leading to a climactic battle resulting in Zola's defeat.
Meanwhile, Strange Supreme travels the multiverse chasing the grief monster, discovering Sanctum Infinitum a place where villains like Peter Quill from Episode 2 are stored. Building a forge, he realizes he needs Strange's body. The grief monster attacks Strange, who, unable to defeat it alone, becomes corrupted and needs Kahori for a ritual. The story concludes with a To be continued tag.
The final episode, titled What If Supreme Strange Gets Corrupted? keeps the Season 2 finale's essence. This time, Strange Supreme desires Kahori, leading to a showdown with the other Guardians of the Multiverse. Due to his overwhelming power, Strange Supreme kills Nebula and Pink Hulk. Realizing it's tough to beat him, Carter suggests Kahori use her powers to teleport them away.
With little time, Tony uses his smarts and Zola's body to create new armor with the Infinity Stones. A fight ensues as Strange Supreme appears, overpowering Thor, Iron Man, Hela, and Captain Carter. He finds Kahori and takes her. Watcher intervenes, transporting the team to Sanctum Infinitum. Tony releases the trapped monsters, causing chaos.
Thor, Hela, and Captain Carter try to save Kahori. Hela dies, and Tony is severely injured. In his last moments, Tony gives his armor to Carter before dying. Now armed with the Infinity Stones, Carter, Thor, and Kahori launch a final assault. Their attack separates Strange Supreme and the grief monster.
Strange rejoins the battle, and the team faces the grief monster. It starts the forge, causing universe killers to fall in. While dying, those killers give their weapons to Carter, Thor, and Kahori. They try to stop the monster but eventually fail. Realizing there's no other choice, Strange teleports the Guardians to another universe, launches a powerful attack on the grief monster, and both fall into the forge.
A new universe is formed without Strange Supreme. If the grief monster's ritual is completed, he becomes part of the universe, and the evil monster will rule. However, Strange's sacrifice creates a better universe. While the story may not be perfect, this structure captures the episode's essence, providing closure to Strange Supreme and a fitting ending for the season with the new Guardians of the Multiverse assembled.

a black widow from a universe destroyed by ultron is ALLOWED to live in a universe were their black widow died and it is not destroyed? also the zombies episode kinda sucked if you read the marvel zombies comic, ant man being a living head really? in the books it was wasp as a head but she was a zombie the only thing they stole from the comics that was good was Black Panther and what was done to him but not by Vision but by Ant man and the zombies after eating in the books could be themselves and fully aware of what they did. the what ifs are meh at best. they should have just animated the what if comics from marvel since the stories are way better.

What about the unknown fate of the Stark tower employees at the Christmas party after Justin Hammer turns Stark's robots to his side and ordered them to kill the employees. only for it to cut away from the scene and never reveal the fate of the employees or even mention the hostage situation again afterwards. I guess we should just assume the worst?

Why isn't Christina deaths in here? The last one is strange putting him self in the driver's seat with the hope that he dies instead of her. Strange trying over and over is why that episode is the best of the season not him absorbing monsters or him losing in the end. It's the why that people relate to

The Kahhori episode felt like it was an original idea that got shoehorned into Marvel. It felt out of place in What-if and I honestly would've preferred it as a stand alone project outside of Marvel instead of being introduced in the show that was mostly based on the MCU.

I have seen some of these characters in their own movies and know they are part of the same franchise, but this video shows the scope is even bigger than I thought.
And darker too. Original characters from the movies I saw die here? No wonder it hits fans hard.

Peggy is gonna be the final villain in the next season finale. You know why? Because members of the Guardians of the Multiverse become final villains in each finale.
- Killmonger
- Strange Supreme

Wait so there are two episodes linked together: The reality in which the Avengers cast all die and the final battle between Captain America and Captain Marvel fighting against Loki are all connected?
reply

For me, the reality where Ultron destroys humanity with nuclear weapons scares me the most because even if you exclude Ultron himself, such a scenario isn t too far fetched in reality.

#14 brought a tear to my heart. A father ruined his own daughter s childhood and life because HE wanted her to be something she didn t want to be for his own selfish ambition!
reply

Wait a sec. if reality is doomed if you have a person from another reality hanging around then doesn't that mean alt. Gamora will eventually cause an incursion in the MCU?
reply

I already and always loved and liked both MCU's Marvel Studios What If? Television series because the What If? question is turning into popularity.

Number 13 is definitely one of the most badass moments for the Sorcerer Supreme.
Even better thanks to Benedict Cumberbatch and his awesome vocal skills
