I'm a huge fan of Shakespeare and Hamlet is one of my favorite of his plays. I have the Kenneth Branuagh version of Hamlet on DVD and I have re-watched it so many times. Yes, it's 4 hours long, so you have to watch on a day you're not doing anything else, or watch it in 2 parts, lol.
Still my favorite movie version of Hamlet, because it's the most comprehensive version. Other movie adaptations of the play leave out a lot, for time understandably, but this movie does the play in it's entirety and I love it!

I can't even finish this video. Once you got to Grave of the Fireflies, I got super bummed out and almost teared up. I might finish this later. hahaha MIGHT. That movie bummed me out so much back in the day that I was depressed for at least a week. I showed it to my best friend and his little brothers back in the early 2000's. They still hate me for it. hahaha
thanks WatchMoJo. I'm gonna go and lay down in a dark room being all in my feelings.

Solaris and Melancholia are two big ones. Both brilliant and both VERY hard to rewatch. Von Trier and Tarkov are masters of their craft and waste nothing in their films but they’re tough to watch. I can’t bring myself to watch AntiChrist and I need to be in a perfect frame of mind to see the other Tarkov masterpieces.

I agree with many of these but if you ever get a chance to see Lawrence of Arabia on a big screen I highly recommend it, no matter if you have seen it before. Like many of David Lean's films, it is such a large scale visual that it needs a large scale medium to really show itself off and give the biggest impact.

Thank you for the update, WatchMojo! 1: 14 Super sad movie based on a true story. If anyone missed watching this anime, I would highly recommend it. 2: 02 The worst movie I have ever watched. I actually felt sorry for people who paid to watch this movie in theatres.

I've watched Citizen Kane a couple of times, same with 2001 A Space Odyssey, Apocalypse Now, and Lawrence of Arabia, but of the movies that were listed, and that I've seen, I've probably watched Schindler's List the most of all.

Historical inaccuracies to _We Were Soldiers_ aside (someone will have to inform me of them, if any, the realistic portrayal of the Vietnam War seen in that movie is enough to make me think twice of revisiting it.

You are absolutely wrong about some of those. They need to be shown to be reminded as to what we should never do again. Ignoring it allows it to resurface again.
Remember what happened. Do not repeat it

I think the green mile deserves at least an honorable mention. I mean, I'd still watch it again, but I can see why somebody wouldn't. It's very long and not for the faint of heart, but still incredible imo.

I was on a strake to watch classical movies on TCM, I watched Citizen Kane and was amazing, but is not for a rewatch, on the contrary I can watch Gone with the Wind a thousand times, is just freaking perfect.

Placing my bets to see what will be on the list prior to watching the video:
Requiem For a Dream
Come and See
Grave of the Fireflies
Schindler’s List
Edit: 3 out of 4

I've seen some of these a number of times. And, this video reminded me of some other movies that I've only seen once, and made me realize that I need to see them again. Thanks!

Saying people won't have the needed attention span to enjoy multiple viewings of some of these great movies is a sad comment on the state of the current movie viewer.

There was no question what would be number one. My high school history class went on a field trip to the theater to go see it in 1993. I've never watched it again.
reply

I think I can watch those movies again. Some are so great that you can’t watch them once. Schindler’s List, 2001: A Space Odyssey and 12 Years A Slave are examples.
reply

Gettysburg. And the Lord of the Rings trilogy extended editions. I love these films but the running time means finding the right opportunity to watch them.
reply

I agree so much with Grave of the Fireflies. I love that movie and would love that other watch it but I could never ever watch it ever again. It’s too much

Power of the Dog. Great story and acting but it's just too uncomfortable to see the lengths a man will go through for his own selfishness a second time
reply

I've watched Lincoln numerous times. I own it, and can watch it whenever I want at my pleasure. The subject matter, that acting, the sets. Great movie.
reply

2001 and Apocalypse Now are so rewatchable. I own Requiem for a Dream on DVD. Doctor Zhivago should be on this list instead of Lawrence of Arabia.
