Sarah Jane Smith deserves a spot on the list. The Sarah Jane Adventures is a spinoff to Doctor Who which is excellent.
The show was marketed to children but doesn't talk down to the target audience. It tied into the main show well and having a more grounded cast led to the characters being developed stronger than most Doctor Who companions

While not technically a lead character, we learned so much more about Chief Miles O'Brien on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine than we really ever did on Star Trek: the Next Generation. Also they did move Lt. Cmdr. Worf over to this show in later seasons which also helped to flesh out his character even more.

The fact they took Jimmy Mcgill/Saul Goodman who was essentially a comic relief character in Breaking Bad and gave him a more tragic and arguably more compelling story than Walter White was mind blowing. Jimmy Mcgill's story was absolutely riveting.

One spin off I really wish we could have seen was the Dead Boy Detectives that featured in an episode of Doom Patrol.
Honestly, a lot of side characters felt like they could’ve had some crazy spinoff shows.

Happy Days came from Love American Style. Happy Days also spawned the lesser qualitied Blansky's Beauties, Joanie Loves Chachi and Out Of The Blue. Lavern & Shirley deserved a position, rather than a mention.
