Not a bad question It really depends on hair thickness, but your best bet for something that will do the least damaging and tugging on long hair is a regular wide tooth comb, esp. for wet hair. You can buy one at Walmart for 3, and they're great. When you brush, start 2 or 3 in. from the end of the hair shaft and work your way up. If a wide tooth comb is too wide on dry hair, look for a brush with bristles that are somewhat flexible with good spacing. It doesn't have to be big Good luck. :)

My mum always used a boar bristle brush on me when I was younger as it felt gentler and didn't pull on my hair as much. Also, it's much easier and better for the hair to use a wide tooth comb if you're ever brushing/combing when the hair is wet. Detangling spray can also be your best friend. I remember screaming my head off when I was really little and my mum was trying to brush out my tangled hair. the spray really helps to loosen up the tangles before brushing Hope this helped a bit: )

I would suggest either the Tangle Teaser or the Wet Brush for your little girls hair. The Tangle Teaser is good because it glides through knotty hair and also won't tug or pull which means it won't hurt your little girl. The Wet Brush is good because it is designed for wet hair which means it won't damage her hair. I have both and love them both the same however I find that the wet brush is more for thicker hair where as the tangle teaser would be better for your little girl: ) hope I helped: )

To answer your question, I have long hair and I use a paddle brush, it's a very wide brush. Start brushing her hair from the bottom to remove tangles while holding the hair and then slowly work your way to the top. This makes it less painful. A detangler spray also makes brushing tear-free. You can also put a bit of conditioner in a spray bottle with water, it's not the best but it helps. I hope this helped you and good luck with your little girl. She's lucky to have a dad like you: )

My dad was a single dad and he was really great at doing my hair when I was a little girl It depends on how old she is. But boar bristle brushes are great. They sell synthetic ones too that are a little more affordable. Basically they do a great job at smoothing the hair and detangling it without too much pulling. Also brushing it in small strokes from ends to tip to avoid breakage Happy hair doing

Tried the first hairstyle yesterday, was great to keep my (long) bangs out of my face Only downside was that I had to redo the little braid in the train, because teasing didn't do it for my hair. Luckily I had a small band in my wallet. And a question about getting your hair to one side, you say to pin it down, but do you have any tips on how to manage that? My hair keeps falling out: (

I don't know if you know this little trick, but here's a tip if you don't want use an elastic to secure your braid. When your braid you hair, don't untie the strands as you go. It will create an 'upcoming knot/inverted braid. Keep on braiding and when the two braids meet, put the the ends through the hole that is left. And voila You will be surprised how good it works

I'm not a professional, however i'm sure it will depend on the type of hair your little girl has. I'm not sure where you are from but here in Australia we have those massage brushes that guys use, they are hexagon shaped with a teeny handle, I use that and a regular rats tail comb so I can section my little girls hair when doing styles. I hope I helped a bit.
